Greetings All,

Twenty-four years ago, I lost my best friend to a heroin overdose. She was twenty-seven with two beautiful “dependents.” We were both stationed in Germany and she was married to a German citizen. Turns out, her husband buried her in a pauper’s grave without benefit of a headstone or last rites. I’ll take care of the headstone and the last rites, but, what I need lots of help with is locating her “dependents.” They are both grown now, but could be anywhere in Germany or Czechoslovakia. I want to tell them of their mom, how beautiful she was; how brave and kind she was; and share with them her writings and pictures. Most of all, I want to tell them how much she loved them. I’ve tried adverts in the papers, the German Embassy and the phone books. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. If all else fails, I may have to hire a private investigator. Thanks much!

Regards,
dovie aka Oliviajoi

Have you talked to her husband or her parents?

If you have their names and D.O.B. a private investigator could probably locate them within an hour.

What both of them said

Thanks for your responses.

@ littlewonder...Husband and parents are deceased.

@ Popeye...looks like this is the route I'll have to take. Where is a researcher when you need one?

Again, thank you.

Regards,
dovie

When you say stationed in Germany, do you mean she was in the Army. Because the government might have last known addresses if they received SSI. But I agree that a private detective would find it easier to locate them.

notify the cemetery of you desire to locate them. Perhaps one day they too will search for her grave and when the cemetery gives the location of her grave they can also give them the info that you are searching for them

Thank you Celeste, it is worth a try.
