From what I've heard Huntington's is much better. You have to drink to lose the shakes, you have a great time even if you hurt and kill people, you just don't care, and that is due to the disorder not the alcohol.
Later there is not enough alcohol in the world to quell your shakes and they tie you down. If I get it I want to go to a high class place where they have genuine Segufix restraints. Those things are gnarly as fuck.
A good friend of mine hung himself because he had the symptoms of Huntington's coming on and had watched his Mother die from it (it is congenital). He noted that in the end she didn't care about the trail of mayhem she had left in her wake. She would get into car wrecks and literally not give a shit, period. He felt it coming on and did not ever want to become like that. I tried to cousel him before the fact, that he was not there yet, that he had some tomorrows left so don't do it right now. But one day it was all out the window. Actually we almost died together the day we met. Details available on request.
Now I am dealing with my Father, who is suffering from a quite strange form of dementia, oh what fun.
But don't take this as bad, realize that I can step outside myself and enjoy some sick jokes, that's just the way I am. Perhaps it "puts away" the hurt somehow. Maybe it is a way to keep my sanity. There was this one joke about a blind guy and a deaf guy trying to communicate, but I haven't seen nor heard of it in years. Neither condition is funny, but the situation was. In fact I believe it was a skit.
THAT'S WHAT I MEAN FOLKS ! You can tell a joke that hits home with me, and some might be offended in my situation. I am a Polak, and damn proud of it and Polak jokes are cool with me. However if you make a Black joke, watch out for Al Sharpton, if you make a Jew joke watch out for Abe Foxman. I am sick of it, I have a skin and I wish everyone else did.
Not to get too serious here in humor, but do you get the point ? One thing I can't stand is one who can dish it out but not take it.
