I've been told there is supposed to be a lotion or rub that can diminish the appearance of Bruising. Is anyone familiar with this?

Dermablend. Obviously it doesn't reduce the actual bruising, just the visual evidence of it.

Arnica is often recommended.

Arnica creme, when used soon after the incident is helpful for me.

Arnica.  It can be purchased as a cream which you apply or taken as a small tablet daily, around 5-10 days before a major scene if you plan that far ahead and then for the same amount of time after.  It will not hide the bruising, but it aids it in healing.

Avoid aspirin and hot baths. Use arnica and ice packs. And dermablend makeup for scars will give almost complete coverage.

Pure Vitamin E oil is darn good for those nasty bruises.

Arnica gel + theatre make-up can do wonders.

I've never heard of Arnica cream. From the posts, I'm gathering that it really only works when taken BEFORE?  I'm asking for a totally unrelated reason.  I had a wisdom tooth and a molar extracted the beginning of the week and I have a nasty bruise on my jaw!  Wondering if something like that would speed it going away.  Thankfully, the vicodin is keeping me from dwelling on the issue, but I was just curious.

When I was practiceing Mixed Martial Arts and Brazillian JuJitZu I had my Instructor use Tiger Balm, it wasn't the Stuff from the stores apparently is was from a Health food store.

It BURNED LIKE A MOTHER FUCKER,

I would NOT suggest putting it on your face.

But the Bruise which was dark black and blue only lasted for 2 days and I usually hold bruised for 2 to 3 weeks.

It worked but like I said it wasn't the stuff from the usual Grocery Store it smelled like Ass and Burned like Hell.

I have had some luck with lavender essential oil rubbed on the bruise.  It about halves the amount of time for me.

Fitznicely -> RE: Bruising remedy (4/24/2009 8:35:16 AM)

Another vote for Lavender here. My girl's an aromatherapist and swears by the damn stuff for everything!

Arnica CAN work afterwards, too.

W/we've used tigerbalm for stufflike headaches and the like. it's oktoo

No, nothing will help if you had two teeth removed. If you do have a sizable bruise, make sure you call your dentist, I am not certain it is supposed this way. That is not a bruise, that is blood where it shouldn't be.

Other than that, ice packs, as your dentist should have told you. If the bruise gets worse go to the emergency room.

LafayetteLady -> RE: Bruising remedy (4/25/2009 8:04:16 PM)

Interestingly enough, the bruise didn't show up until 2 full days after the extractions.  I did call my oral surgeon and question how I was feeling.  Rather than a call back, they just called in another script for vicodin.  Certainly, glad to get the pain meds, but I'm really the "need an explanation" type, so I wasn't pleased.  I have an appointment with my regular dentist on Monday, so I will be talking with him about it.  I'm scheduled for a "deep cleaning" but I don't think he will be able to do it if my mouth is still so sore.  Another weird thing is that the bruise (or pulling blood as you are calling it), are in a different place from the extraction.  Not asking anyone what I should do.  I typically bruise pretty easily due to other health issues.  Just thought it was weird.

As for the tiger balm, I don't think it would burn, but I am really hesitant to put something that smells like ass on my face!  Appreciate the thought though.

bluefireeyez -> RE: Bruising remedy (4/25/2009 8:09:19 PM)

When I had my wisdom teeth out I also bruised pretty badly. I bruised almost half way down my jaw. It is normal. However, if it doesn't go away I would be more concerned. And a cleaning so soon after having teeth removed...probably a poor idea. There are still scabs and stuff that you don't want opened.

LafayetteLady -> RE: Bruising remedy (4/25/2009 9:00:26 PM)

I agree.  I think my regular dentist thought I would be healed more than I am in a week.  I thought about cancelling the appointment, but thought since I have had some issues with pain, bruising and what not that it would be a good idea to go to see him and make sure everything is going the way it should.  Mainly because he is so much closer than the oral surgeon!  I don't think any of it is abnormal.  I have some underlying health issues that I think are making the pain worse than it would be for most.  On the other hand, I am luckier than most, because I have been able to take the pain killers and sleep most of the week.

azjojoba -> RE: Bruising remedy (4/26/2009 2:07:54 AM)

The last time I got spanked really hard on the ass I sat on ice for about 30 minutes. It's not very high tech but it worked.

ohsocheekyslave -> RE: Bruising remedy (4/26/2009 12:27:59 PM)

Tea tree oil can also work!
