Hello I'm DarkLadyESH. I'm quite new to the lifestlye and am still learning about the boundaries between different relationships. Primarily I am a switch by nature and I have found myself in a position <ha ha> where I have stumbled across a cute pet desiring a master. I've accepted this very cute kitty into my care but I'm unfamiliar as to how to go about it. I feel that I'm blurring the relationship of Master/slave with Master/pet. Could someone help me out. I'd very much appreciate it. <3

There is nothing at all wrong with a slave also being a pet. I never feel more treasured than when I feel that I am special and it makes me all the more willing to do whatever it takes to please my Master. Blend away to your heart's desire. I'm sure that your slave pet will only feel closer to you for it.

As stated above, blend away indeed. :) I often do a lot of blending of what would be standard definitions of sub/slave/pet and even bottom for that same person on rare occassion. Seriously, if you never knew if the person was more pet or more slave, it wouldn't matter one bit...as long as it was enjoyable and a healthy relationship. Find out what they desire/need, find the same of yourself, and make a big gooey D/s buffet of fun!

If I want my slave to be my dog (or cat, pony, etc.) periodically, or maybe just for the day, he will. But not every pet wants to be a slave. All cocker spaniels are dogs. But not all dogs are cocker spaniels. In set theory, if set A= dogs, and set B= cocker spaniels, then set B is a subset of set A: meaning that everything within set B is also a member of set A. If set A= slaves, and set B= pets, then set B would only be a subset of set A, if all pets needed or wanted to be slaves. In reality of course, that's not the case. Even if the pet does want to be owned, this does not mean he/she wants to be a slave. What you most likely have is (again using a set theory term) an intersection. A place where your needs and desires overlap. Since you are still very new, don't feel the need to set rigid boundaries right now. Just be upfront that you're exploring, and evolving. As the two of you grow and change, just be comfy talking about the changes, so you both can adapt accordingly. This is how high school sweethearts stay together for twenty years or more. When you say kitty, do you mean they act like a cat? If so you may want to get props, ear and tail. Have them crawl around and purr, not talk. Chase cat toys, etc.

One thing you might want to inquire about, I was told that kitties get to misbehave more than the average slave or pet, including scratching or biting when they don't like what's going on. Real cats don't strike me as terribly submissive, I've seen plenty that seemed to be the dominant ones in the relationship with their owners. So depending on this kitties impression of actual cats you could be in for a different experience, good luck and remember to keep the squirt bottle handy [;)]

Funny how this turned into a kittyplay thread. Because of the scarcity of plugs actually geared toward cat-like appearance, I fashioned one for a former sub. Plain rubber plugs are easy to find at any local toy shop and the bases usually are think and wide enough to allow a plastic screw which would hold whatever material you'd like to make the tail out of (and I'm not even that crafty of a fellow in that respect...I'm sure someone could easily be just as if not more inventive with what they create the tail with).

Less on kitty play advice, and speaking more generally... More Doms need to take this advice... You're a Domme. You make the rules. Technically, there is no right or wrong to all this - there are more effective techniques, but stop worrying that you're blurring any line, because the line only exists if you believe in it or allow it to exist. In the end, if you want to have your sub act like a pet all day, fine - as long as its fulfilling your needs and your subs, you're golden. Besides questions concerning safety, the default answer should be: Are you enjoying yourself or feeling fulfilled? Is your sub enjoying it or feeling fulfilled? Then who cares about the damn label! The less you question whether you're adhering to others manufactured rules that really are just a bunch of BS to begin with, the more fun you'll have, and the more Dom you'll actually be. (safety rules should be the only ones you ought to worry about)
