I never really had a nickname growing up or throughout most of my adult life. Several years ago I adopted the nickname of Bear which is what I use here and among friends. A good friend of mine who's also the head of a larger bear family refers to me as cub or boy...which he's about the only one who has that privilege!

When I was young, "Fran Tarkington", after the quarterback.  "Ferd", NO clue why...  The other names I took on myself.  I was "Fee" for the longest time, I kind of miss that name, and the folks that went with it.   And of course if you are Italian and your name is of the "Frances" variety, your nic is "Chich".  Just like your nic is "Jimmy" if your name is "Vincent".  MYSTERIES!!

Numerous boyfriends over the years have called me Kitty.  I have a very feline personality.  Sylverë is a nickname I've had since highschool.

..."rude bitch" I am often called behind my back at work...but I would not consider that as a "nickname" really [8|]

At work... Kimpossible, though I think I am often mistaken for Rumplestilskin. [8|]

Due to my meticulous nature… *must be accurate*… I am often sent to “fix” other people’s merchandising errors.[&:]

Skip.

I did a Play in Highschool called Juvie.

I played Skip the Dropout Alcoholic, in the play I had to play two parts one of Skip and the other as Hank which was part of someone elses background story. Hank had a Twitch and so I have him a Twitch and it was so memberable that it was associated with My Main Character Skip. For MONTH people would go where's the twitch Skip.

Odd how Life immataes Art and Vise Versa, I eventually became a Junkie and a Drop Out and an Alcoholic and I was working in a Burger King where I would get pissed off when people who call me by my real name just because it was on my Name Tag, so I changed it to Skip and this way I could know who really knew me from who was just reading a name tag.

It Stuck and even today Half of my Friends know me as Skip and the other half by my Given name.

Odd how things like that start.

"Keebler"

Once upon a time, at Job Corps i was in Culinary Arts training, and had to wear a hair net. my hair covered my ears a little and gave them a pointed look like the cookie elves. The name went by the wayside with the hair nets...[:D]

for a while I was called Mouse, because I was so quiet and would fade into the background of any gathering..

(seriously..for those that know me....it's true....)

I had to laugh at this because of my friend who knew me well!  We were really close and he knew of my struggles inside and out.  He called me Roaring Mouse from a story about a mouse that was overwhelmed by the odds.  The mouse roared to seem like an army or something like that and I reminded him of the mouse.  He still calls me mouse.

Rude Dog after the cartoon. Some weenie at work called me rude one day and my co-workers fell on the floor laughing. One of them pegged me with Rude Dog and it stuck. Sometimes Rude...mostly Rude Dog.

intenze -> RE: Nicknames (4/26/2009 2:12:57 PM)

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Nicknames (4/27/2009 5:13:27 AM)

i have 2 nicknames - one is personal and the other i use as radio moniker.

the first one, for most of my life - i'm referred by my middle name among relatives and family friends. never once have i heard anyone call me by my first name ...it's always my nickname.

the second one denotes which part of Chicago where i live. the radio host of New Music Binge gave it to me about 5 years ago and ever since then, i've been this name among many, many bands and fans.
