You can't do anythign about your age. You'res tuck with that. BUT, you can do something about the amount of experience you have. THAT is the equalizer. Experience. Knowledge. And the sensib;e application thereof.

floorkitten -> RE: damn age (2/2/2006 4:26:13 AM)

My personal preference would lend warrant to the OP's rant -

on a side note - Master has no problem with it....lol.

I think maturity is more of an equalizer. Sometimes that comes with age and experience. Sometimes it doesn't.

you beat me to it Sensualips... was going to say same thing... lol

There is a great line in Finding Forrester. The young boy asks the distinguished author "If you write a great book, will women sleep with you?" The author replies in that wonderful Scot accent "If you write a bad book, they will sleep with you."

That's been my plan.

Now that I've said that, I'll add seriously that not all old geezers are famous authors, but they may well be great partners, and in knee-jerk rejection of someone because of age may be costing a person a wonderful opportunity.

People are certainly free in putting limits on who they will consider for a partner but any limit decreases the chance of finding "the right one" be it age, height, weight, colour of skin or anything else. For this reason, people should carefully examine their limits since the one they potentially hurt the most is themselves.

Mr Warren, I'm sure that being sexy, witty, intelligent, and having a wonderful sense of humor have NOTHING to do with women being attracted to you...

God, you so juvenile, ignorant, and immature. When are you EVER!!! going to GROW UP! Don't you know that in a year or maybe even less than one, you will be twenty (20) years old? What do you think you can do STOP TIME? Well, let me just tell you something, YOU CAN'T! The youth of today....what ever will become of tomorrow?

Actually, there are reason's to hate one's age at every point in life's cycle, so its best to simply embrace it.

KnightofMists -> RE: damn age (2/2/2006 10:40:37 AM)

I am having the Best time of my life right now! and my age only reflects how long I have been having the best time of my life right now! I find age to be of little value determining that for others! I tend to disregard a person's age and get to know them, the ones that are having the best time of there life now! well age tends to be of just as little value for them as it does for me. Experiences/Behaviors is what matters not age. so quit buying into the age issue. Make it irrelevant to you! Just Be you! and have fun doing it

Slipstreme -> RE: damn age (2/2/2006 10:48:42 AM)

personally, at 18, i was the person i am now.

Oh wow, not me. I barely recognize myself at 28, much less 18. I can only imagine what I will be like at 40. Sure, the basic personality is the same. But even ten years is a world apart.

That is not to say any stage is neccessarily better or worse. I loved myself at 18. I just love myself now too.

I also would like Caitlyn to be 19 forever. Or at least until I see her naked discussing midieval culture.

Same here, SL. I was only 18 six years ago and I've changed, my sexuality has changed, my perceptions of myself and the world around me have changed! Bring on the changes, I say! I'd get awfully boring otherwise.

Why do you people get so hung up on age anyways? Ugh.

ps- I love most of the people here, but there are just some out there that really make me see red.

Speaking just for me, I don't. In the course of life, I have met old souls in 12-year-old bodies and 60-somethings that I would not trust with a burnt out match. It is not the physical age that is important but that which is within, the spiritual age of which maturity is a part. I look for a genuine desire to learn, to grow, to do -- those matter more to me than anything else. I tend to look for young for several reasons, and not just for the physical aspects. Being with someone younger (or young at heart) is a chance to see old things anew, to gain new perspectives on that thing, and to grow as a result. It is a good way to force growth in other areas as well, to keep from stagnating on matters of music, art, philosphy, and more. Yes, there are going to be things where life experience does make a difference, but even with that there are going to be cases where someone younger has a great deal more life experience in certain areas than someone who is older. All that means is that you take each individual and measure that person.

In response to sub4hire, I had my first real taste at about 7 though I didn't have a clue that that is what it was. I began reading and learning about aspects of BDSM and Master/slave at about 10 or 11, and really started to dig in more when I was about 13. Wasn't actually able to do much physical exploration until I was about 18.

My experience with older people that want to generalize about the young, is to answer them back, respectfully, without emotion, and with fact-based logic. They will usually back down, or just stop commenting at all ... which is just as good.

i hope you don't mean me; i have always tried to respect you. As for 18 yrs old, in or out of D/s there are joys and sorrows and lessons to be learnt...as at any age.

How are we failing to accept young people? Just asking..for specifics.

Considering the fabulousness of being 18 ( don't know about you guys but i had a great time), i consider it a damned shame most won't share a cup of coffee with their parents. *sigh* But it changes, as all things do, and they eventually begin speaking again, LOL.

SweetEscravo......

First off... please stop using the word "Kink"...... BDSM is not all about being kinky.

I don't see anything wrong with the word "kink". It may not apply to you, but many of us are OK with it.

Be well,
Julie

HoosierScorpio -> RE: damn age (2/3/2006 1:10:36 PM)

While some see youth not being experience enough remember it goes both ways as you get older no one want to take the risk of seeing some older than them Remember in 20 years from now you will be on the other end and being too old can be a problem. If you are 18 years old then why do yours ay you are 23 years old on your profile. Be honest and truthful about your age for that will say allot and seek out some one to mentor you for I know you go to start some were. No one will take you serious if you not up front and honest. I know one young lady who wants some one close to her age but right being mentor by some one who is older than she is. She did express her desire for some close to her own age and that time will come for soon enough. No one is going to take you serious if you do not show some level a maturity and wisdom when it comes to this lifestyle. I have seen some who are over 30 and their maturity level was not there and some who are under 30 how far more of a maturity level when it comes to this lifestyle. The only way to be taken serious is keep going to events, workshops and keep growing and you will find some who is close to your age or some one much older who enjoy being with some younger. I have dated older women and I have dated some one younger than myself but I enjoy them both. Trust is the key to get past the age barrier and in time you will be on the other side of the 30 and be complaining they think I am too old for them.

IronBear -> RE: damn age (2/4/2006 4:26:18 AM)

If you stop and think about it, this difference regarding age not only works both ways but right accreoo the board in most areas of life. I only get pissed off when some young punk of any sex treats me ass though I'm senile or some other form of disresrespect. It wouldn't be the first time when one of them wanted to try shoving me aside and went into an unexpected nite-nite situatio with the judicious application of a sleeper hold. (Good mind fuck there too as if they struggle the go out faster and I'm the evil bastard who whisters in their ear "Time to die" and laugh). Still that aside I usually remember as I guess do a few guys here that those same know it all boys either learned fast or died fast within a couple of days of arriving in 'Nam. My view is that if you treat me reasonably you may even learn something from me if you want and all things being equal as sure as shyte, I'll learn from you too.

skareamoos -> RE: damn age (2/4/2006 5:01:04 AM)

If you can figure out how to take them I will gladly send you ten of my years. At (almost) 76 I can spare them. Count your blessings that your best years are ahead of you.

DragonNphoenix -> RE: damn age (2/4/2006 8:41:45 PM)

I for one do not have a problem with the younger crowd... My problem stems when the 'younger crowd' seems to think that just because I am 34... that I tooooo old for conversation/friendship. It is the ones that act that way that give the bad rep for all. I believe that we all have things to offer and if someone is extending friendship... who am I to tell them no?
