Anytime we feel sorry for ourselves we should consider there is always someone worse off than we are. Get a load of this guy. There is no bottom to that human spirit that refuses to give up.

Seems to me, the only thing that had been stopping him, was finding someone willing to fight him; worse off?

From a real wrestling standpoint, I think that guy has a good advantage, in that he has limited appendages to grab and get tangled up to be forced a submission. Mixed Martial Arts might be more of challenge, but I'm sure he'd be up to it.

My Judo-JJ coach met him several years ago. He was a wrestler then and looking to get into JJ. Now he is doing MMA. He has an awesome attitude.

Also bad for the ego, being an 8th grade boy who discovers at the meet that he's wrestling a girl.

Depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance of the brain so no amount of cheerleading is going to rectify that for some. People don’t understand what it feels like to be microwaved until someone invents a human sized microwave they’ll fit in, similarly some will never understand the true nature of depression. Our attitudes to mental illness compared to other conditions has always amused me somewhat.

When I am feeling sorry for myself, The proper course of action is to feel sorry for myself then get the hell over it.  Not to say well there's people worse off than me so I shouldn't feel sorry for myself.  I know there's people out there worse off than I ever could be and frankly, I don't have it that bad at all, but I do need to allow myself that emotion sometimes, and not try to say well I shouldn't because.........

Maybe that is how I was raised. I was always reminded there was someone worse off than me.
I am sure this guy has a lot of bad days, but he has overcome obstacles I can't even imagine. It was my hope that would be the focus of the discussion here.

No you just gave the usual spiel that there is always someone worse off than you; implying people are not justified to have negative thoughts in life unless they have had all their limbs removed which is nonsense imo. People can cope with things how they like and they can wallow in it to their hearts content it's not hurting anyone else when they do so.

I agree, but suspect, he does not have an average ego.

Just an update if anyone cares. He lost his fight. His opppnent would not go to ground with him. He took a standing boxing strategy.

I guess the point was to win.  Maybe he knew he would lose if he went to ground.
