I was really surprised when I saw the headline of this thread :) I grew up in NE Ohio, and I've been to the big name amusement parks in other areas of the country, but IMO, none of them beats Cedar Point! The Millenium Force 2000 (300 ft. first drop, literally straight down...second drop, 200 ft.!) was the most incredible, awesome, freaking thrilling roller coaster I've ever ridden....while waiting in line, I watched the riders just sit, stunned when the ride finally stopped, and then break out into applause and loud boo-yah'ing cheers! The first time I ever rode The Magnum (first drop 200 ft.) I was truly frightened for the first time in my coaster-riding life. Sandusky is at the far west end of Lake Erie, (heading towards Toledo) and there are some other fun, but more low-key attractions in that area, like wineries, and ferry rides out to Put-in-Bay, and I think there's a "Kelly's Island" out there, too. The former Geauga Lake Park has been taken over by the Six Flags corporation, and I think they also took over the former Sea World (another home of Shamu!) that is nearby for their water park. It's roughly 25 or 30 miles directly south of Cleveland. You couldn't go wrong at either place, but I grew up going to Cedar Point when the Blue Streak, a 100+ year old wooden coaster was the main attraction. It will always be one of my old stomping grounds! chymes
