It all depends on the people involved. At this time, Neets and I are the temp Master and Mistress of a lass who has recently suffered a messy break up with a completely nasty idiot who is still trying to cause her problems even though he is in another state. This lass has been our friend for ten years and I helped train her in the Gorean Lifestyle when she was in another relationship at that time.
I will only become so involved if I know the whole story and the expected time limitations. In another thread I recounted how years ago after my 'Nam time, I fell in love with a girl who saw in me, the brother she never had and how she fell in love with a colse mate of mine. I was both best man at their wedding and am God Father to their children. She never knew and still does not know how much I loved her. The issue was and in such cases like being a temp Master, I want what is best for that person in my care, personal feelings are firmly set aside. Life is a game and like playing poker, you do the best with the cards you hold. Double dealing or cheating may get you some satisfaction but in the long run you are the poorer for it.
So to answer the OP, yes it does work if the right people are involved and they are open and honest.
