What's really needed in this instance is a CLUE shot. Anyone who uses a Windows email client and doesn't have at least one anti-virus package running (and updated daily) deserves to get hit by this worm. If you're one of those who doesn't currently have anti-virus software on your system, you night want to consider getting it now. It is hard not to agree here. If one surfs the net without anti-virus software and they catch something nasty... it is their own fault. Broadband users especially should have a firewall program installed as well. And for those of you that think you are safe by not opening attachments on emails... well, you are wrong. When you surf the net the ActiveX controls on web sites can download things onto your computer without you even knowing it. I learned this the hard way. I never opened attachments from anyone I didn't know and my system got infected from surfing. I wasn't using anti-virus software either so I got what I asked for which was trouble. Lucky for me, I deal with that stuff all the time so I was able to fix it with little or no trouble. You cannot be too careful. There are free programs out there that are OK... not the best, but OK. The ones you pay for, while a little pricey will give you more reliable coverage and will alert you when virus threat levels are high. Scan your computer at least once a week. If you surf a lot... do it twice a week. Also get good spyware removal tools. Run them also and update them frequently. It is about your own privacy and safety so if you think it isn't worth having, don't get the protection... but don't complain that your identity got stolen or your computer is a useless hunk of electronics because of your own negligence.
