"MEXICO CITY – The World Health Organization raised its global alert level on the spreading swine flu virus Monday, but stopped short of declaring a global emergency — even as the U.S. said it was acting as if the outbreak would grow into a full pandemic."

I trust those folks.....yeah....why not.....

Here's my response to those who say "it's all good...they're telling us everything....sure...."

****************
"Our banking system is fine....everything's ok".

*********** (a few days later).....
"We might have a few weak links in the system, but all in all, the American banking system is fully functional".

************ (a few days later still....)
"Yes, there's a few weak links in the system, but very few will need adjustment".

************
"Sure, there's always a few bad apples, indeed there will be some changes, this is nothing like the banking scandals of the mid '80's, a few banks will fall by the wayside."

***************  ( a week or two more....)
"Okay...it's pretty bad, it looks like it's going to get worse....there's no need to panic, but it's quite a bit worse than we anticipated".

************** (UH OH!!!!!!!!)
"WHOOOOOAAAAHHHH!!!!!!! It's REALLY bad !!!!!!  Can't imagine it being worse......don't know if I've ever seen it this bad.....YEEEEEFUCKINGHAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! DAYUM it's BAD!!!!!"

*******.....then......
"Everything's fine....it's all under control.....I'm personally investing....so's my Mom....at my direction....."

**************
"News report:  Government sponsored investment vehicles have soured, most govt. employees have left the investment vehicles sponsored by their internal federal 401k's...."

*****

I'm wearing a mask....and downing Vitamin C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J and K.

My brother just sent this to me.

(Could be paranoia....could be very real):

source :   http://blogs.wsj.com/health/2009/04/27/swine-flu-live-blogging-cdcs-monday-conference-call/   Summary of the CDC conference call:

By Jacob Goldstein

The WHO said earlier today that there have been 40 cases of swine flu confirmed in the U.S. So far, cases in this country appear to have been mild, but officials have warned that more severe cases could emerge. Richard Besser, acting head of the CDC, is providing an update to reporters this afternoon. Here’s what he’s saying.

1:09 There have been 40 confirmed U.S. cases in five states. The 20 newly confirmed cases are associated with the previously reported outbreak in a New York school. The new cases represent additional testing, not newly discovered cases.

1:10 No fatalities have been reported in the U.S.

1:12 The CDC recommends that people avoid non-essential travel to Mexico . “This is out of an abundance of caution,” Besser says.

1:13 Eleven million courses of antiviral drugs from national pandemic stockpile are en route to states.

1:16 Schools, businesses should review plans in case of local outbreaks. Individuals should use common sense: wash hands frequently, cover mouth and nose when sneezing, don’t go to work or school when sick.

1:18 “We don’t think any of the existing vaccines are effective” against swine flu, Besser says. Officials are discussing various vaccine-related possibilities, which could include manufacturing a new vaccine or including a swine flu strain in next year’s seasonal vaccine.

1:20 “We would not recommend that people wear masks in the workplace as a precautionary measure,” Besser says. The evidence of value of masks outside of health care settings “is not very strong.”

He added: “I would rather people really focus on hand washing, not giving that little kiss of greeting when you’re meeting right now.” (He later clarified this comment to say the kiss-of-greeting recommendation applies specifically to people who are feeling sick or may have come in close contact with the disease. “We’re not recommending an end to affection.”)

1:24 If WHO raises pandemic alert level one notch, it “would not change anything” about what is being done within the U.S. , Besser says.

1:26 CDC is sending test kits to some states, so state labs can detect swine flu. Currently, samples must be sent to CDC for confirmation.

1:27 No evidence that this strain of flu was circulating in Mexico before March.

1:36 Of the 40 confirmed cases in this country, there has been one hospitalization.

1:36 Besser says it is “quite premature” for other countries to put travel restrictions on people coming to the United States .

1:42 The call is over.

Here's a current map showing outbreaks:

The vaccines that we get each year are formulated to take care of the current known viruses in humans.  The reason those vaccines are not effective against this most recent flu is because this virus is one that sickens swine, ie.farm animals.  They don't normally innoculate humans against animal viruses.  The swine virus, however, is now affecting humans - so a vaccine will be formulated for that.

Just a reminder...the best advice is still what your grandmother and mother told you - WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER and STAY AWAY FROM SICK PEOPLE.

Okay, Gris?  You REALLY have to stop reading the paper and listening to the news.  I hear they have FREE PR0N on the interwebs!  Go there, and do whatever it is that guys do when they have naked folks doing things on a screen...  please, do not share the details unless you would like to replicate them on cam for me.  Thx.
