I was contacted by a female on CM, asking a few general questions with regards to my profile. I replied, and she recommended that I seek a mentor and just happened to know someone she could put me in touch with, conveniently he was online right at that moment (lucky me!). He then dropped me a lined and referred to himself as 'we', so I probed a little and asked who 'we' are, and he said 'site mentors' and went on to explain... "it all started about 3 years ago when a lot of new people to the lifestyle were being exploited by the various pervs and pic hunters on here so a group of us long term members approached the then moderator(i believe its changed since) for permission to at least give the new starters an idea about it all so they can make an informed choice" Now, I've dug around a bit on the forums and can't find anything in reference to offical site mentors. Call me cynical, but it smells more than a little fishy. I am a relatively new member here though, so there's every chance I'm being a little cautious and he is, in fact, all that he claims to be. Has anyone else ever been mentored by an offical approved mentor?

i've been on here 16 months and never once heard of an "official approved mentor". sounds like a line of bullshit to me. might want to do some digging, maybe contact support about this person's claims. PM

Fortunately crumbled posted this just in time for Me to see it and offer My services. Graduated summa cum louder from the University of Fetid Dingos Kidneys, I have bits of paper from all over the place. I really must get a slave - I mean one of My numerous slaves - to tidy up My parking tickets. I have qualifications in this and that, and a bit of the other. Send Me your money, your nude pics, and your home and personal mobile phone numbers. And warm My side of the bed for Tuesday's practical session. Tea, white, no sugar. Seriously though, the theory is not such a bad idea. I wonder who would do the approving, the certification, the CRB checks, the continuing professional development, risk assessment, the insurance.... Sadly, perhaps wrongly, I smell a rat...

Depends on the vacancy crumbled. First I have to let the ink dry on My new Certificate of Airworthiness and finish off My coursework on "Introduction to Common Household Objects II: The Sponge"; "Adventures in Housekeeping II: Let's Clean Under the Bed" - oh and finish writing "How to buckle cuffs without chafing...." Just send the pics and money & I'll be in touch..... Oh...she doesnt believe me either ... oh well...

There was a group about a year ago who joined CM and proceded to troll heavily about their mentoring prowess. They operate on a certain ALTernative website and are convinced they know best on every subject BDSM related. It sounds like these people are who you've been in contact with. This is just My opinion, but these people are dangerous. Please avoid.

There are people out there who will mentor someone for free and are looking for nothing in return but the good feeling of helping someone else out. I have mentored many, from a few emails to much more long term, and I never expected to see nude photos or have them perform any tasks for me other than being honest with themselves in their exploration and sometimes writing those thoughts down for me. So many people mentoring out of selfish reasons have given the who idea a bad name. If someone offers to mentor you, and they start of by telling you a lie then chances are there is some selfish, instead of selfless, reason for it. Kudos to you for catching on so quickly.

If the offer had come from someone who I had built up a friendship with, and had a level of trust with, then maybe I'd have given it a little more consideration, as it is, he'll just have to go offer his very kind, generous services elsewhere.

And that's why it is so perfidious chamberqueen. On the face of it mentoring is a good idea. But how does one find a good mentor? And isn't that sometimes what a good friend does anyway? Most of us can use - or at least listen to a second opinion on occasion. Unfortunately the only way to separate the sheep from the goats seems to be experience - and of course if it's a bad experience it's too late. It's like lawyers or estate agents - the good ones' reputations are sullied by the words and actions of the other 95% of their colleagues...
