I got to thinking about what it is that turns me on when it comes to taking a belt or my hand to a woman's ass. I don't get off on giving pain as I could just as easily cause pain to any animal. Pain is such a basic phenomenon, it is hard to get turned on by it, just by it, at least for me. I get turned on by the reaction, the response from the belt or from the hand. SHE moans... SHE hurts and expresses it verbally or, more typically, gutturally. That is what is hot.

Do those who think of themselves as sadists, which I don't consider myself, get off on the pain and the knowledge that he or she is causing it or is it the reaction, the sounds, the moaning... even the mild whining... that might come with it?

I only recently had any kind of topping encounter, but I found myself turned on by both the actions themselves AND her reactions.

For the most part, it is the reaction I get. It is like the response from a fine musical instrument, or perhaps a sports car, as I'm not musically inclined. Actually, i have to go back to a blacksmith analogy, I'm using my strength and wits to form something beautiful, my iron radiates heat as I shape it, watching it respond to my application of just the right amount of force in just the right place, except that the iron sings to me its joy in being shaped. However, there is a part of me that enjoys watching someone slip and fall, and sometimes I have the urge to lash out, but this part of me I keep a tight reign on. It is this part of me that causes me to consider myself a sadist.
