ORIGINAL: LadyHibiscus <endorphin envy> ditto. I workout plenty and I don't get any rush that I'm aware of. Just hopefully better sleep...and a little more lean muscle mass. Hum...so should I not expect to ever experience sub space? Ah. Don't know about others, but endorphins are morphine-like -- so no rush, more like I get kinda bliss-y, minor aches & pains recede, & I just feel good . . ... . & it's subtle, low-key . . .. . I get adrenaline rushes, but that's very different from the endorphin thing, very speedy & I get hyper & agitated . ... Oh. & from exercise I know that, for me, it takes at least 15 minutes of continuous physical activity before I start to feel the effects of the endorphins . .. . . & that can be a tough 15 minutes to get thru; usually I have a lot of resistant, bitchy, whiny, disgruntled stuff that goes thru my head before the endorphins start to kick in . . . . . . & Dom- or sub-space is more than just getting high on endorphins, I suspect a more significant player in this is 'trance state' or 'trance induction' . . . . . . Humans go into trance states pretty easily -- meditation, (self-)hypnosis, even reading a story, make use of our propensity to enter light trance states quite easily . ... . & clearly, to my eyes, a chunk of what goes on in BDSM play involves trance induction . . . . . . There's also, clearly, to my eyes, a lot of 'psychological release' that goes on in both sides of a BDSM interaction, & the 'feelings' experienced by bottoms & tops are probably impacted by those resultant flows of biochemicals . .. . . .
