CatdeMedici -> The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 9:11:49 AM)

I love, love love the new accessibility to the journals--I love being able to subscribe, see what's new and I have really enjoyed reading some. ( Its like online soap operas for some and a private yet public look into someone's soul for others)--When you scroll through, you do see way more people than we see post--that's for sure--I'm just curious how you use the journal?

Is it just a gathering of your thoughts from the day?
Do you use it as a subtle or not so subtle message to your D or s?
Do you use it to further  expand who you are versus those checklists?
Is it a means for exploration or catharsis for you?

Do you as a D ask your s to use that venue here on CM for their thoughts? ( I know there are other journalling sites that are private)

Curious.

Being new to CM, I have yet to really make use of the journal that they offer here. I do keep a private journal though and eventually, I plan to make use of the one that is offered here.

For me, the use would most likely center around just thoughts, feelings, and questions that may pop up in my mind from time to time. Writing them down helps me to analyze, pick apart, and possibly find the answer ( if I am lucky that is lol )

i would say i use the journal part of CM to just "talk out loud" to noone in particular. Posting on the forums however....now that i do use at times, as a way to tell Daddy something without REALLY telling Daddy something LOL

AngelGeena -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 9:26:11 AM)

Sometimes for a venting avenue.
Other times, I feel like writing out something new I have come to learn about myself.
I have no one particular reason for using it.

SlaveBlutarsky -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 9:26:59 AM)

Unfortunately, I don't use them very much at all. I used to keep one on b.com but when that place went to shit, I stopped and never picked it up anywhere else. I really should, I do like writing them, and let's be honest here, I've got really important shit to say ;)

GreedyTop -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 9:30:19 AM)

often, for me, the journal is just a place to put random thoughts, or an update on things going on in my life :)

mdr080480 -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 9:44:01 AM)

I skim over a few, read a lot more. There's some interesting people posting journals. Some catch my eye, some seem like lunacy at it's finest. Some make absolutely no sense whatsoever, some are very clear and clever. Kinda like the forums I suppose, only not. Just another way of communicating publicly.

Fun to read at times and can offer more insight into people's thoughts.

Fitznicely -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 9:44:23 AM)

Amusing to read, mostly. I kinda try and slap something up if it's relevant to CM, otherwise, I have other places to record my daily goings-on...

chamberqueen -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 10:22:10 AM)

When I first had a profile here as a Domme I had a new topic almost daily based on questions that subs would ask me.  I was very touched when people started writing to me and saying that my words put things into a new perspective for them.  One in particular seemed to resonate with people - about "three little words" and how two word phrases such as "good girl" or "thank you" could mean as much, that hearing "I love you" isn't necessarily the most important part of the relationship but knowing that there is true appreciation between partners can mean even more.

kuriouswitch -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 10:34:55 AM)

i use my journal on CM to keep my friends updated on whats going on, some are just silly, some are serious but the more in depth journaling i do online that only Master and i have access to.

oceanwinds -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 10:41:30 AM)

I am a very private person so would not choose to journal on CM. I do journal though on a constant bases and have for decades.

Hey there, i hope this doesn't come across as facetious, but if only you and your "D" type see your private journal, then why is it an online journal? Why not a traditional diary book?(they have some very pretty ones)
Hope your week went well and your weekend goes better
be well

HalloweenWhite -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 10:52:53 AM)

I use My journal when I have something D/s related to say that I think O/other people may find either amusing or just plain interesting should they happen to look at My profile to see who I am and what makes Me tick.

DemonKia -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 11:56:59 AM)

I've always sucked at doing the regular diary-journal thing, so that was out. Plus, I'm a writer. My life is boring to external glazed-over eyes . . . . . Today's entry: Sat at my desk for most of the day. Read stuff. Wrote stuff. Went for a walk. Next day's entry: Same thing. & the day after that. & the next day. (I do other stuff, but these days I'm exceptionally 'boring', hehehehe . . . . Well, to others -- I find me endlessly fascinating . .... )

lol

So. I use the 'journal' feature as an augmentation to my profile, & as another place to post my relevant 'essays' about the things that are important to me . .... I have other blogs & websites & so on, but I consider CM to be my 'main' social-networking 'home' . . .. .

(Hehehe, the mods moved this thread while I was composing . . . . lol . . . . But I'm learning their ways . . . .. )

I enjoy being an ass.

MadAxeman -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 12:06:21 PM)

I'd call it charming myself

Vendaval -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 12:23:42 PM)

I post from time to time but not on a regular basis.  It is too public of a place for private thoughts, IMO.

Lockit -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 2:34:22 PM)

I use my journal for all sorts of things and reasons.  You never know what you will find there! lol

Now that things are so public in the sense that more find it, I am not putting some things I used to put there.  Like my stories or certain personal things.  I have a lot more dominant's looking at my profile, but in talking about my adult son... I have come to know some people I wouldn't know.  So there are pro's and con's to it all, but I am adjusting. lol

heartcream -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 6:37:21 PM)

When I joined here almost two years ago some guy subscribed to my journal. I had not written anything. I thought, "Hmm okay I will write something." I started my journal which went through a process like I did.

When my dog died end of December 08, I felt too heartsick and took my writing off. I got mail from some folks asking what happened and that they missed my writing. I decided to start again.

I write whatever I feel like writing and it is a nice thing at times. I get some cool response to it and I think in the long run it is good for me.

Like others I have been keeping a journal for yonks. I still do keep a private one where I say what the heck I want with less censure possible.

Some guy wrote me here on CM when I first joined that Tallulah Bankhead, or whatever her name is, said that only boring people keep journals. I find that beyond annoying. The sort of philosophy that the truly living and exciting do not have time to write anything of worth.

Apocalypso -> RE: The CM Journals and how they relate (4/30/2009 7:39:08 PM)

What I post to my journal falls into three main categories.

1.  Snark.

2.  Random thoughts and events I find amusing.

3.  More lengthy pieces of creative writing.

While I write because I enjoy writing and write about what I want to, I am also fully aware that the journals are public.  At least in part, I'm almost always writing for an audience.  It's very much a journal for me, not a diary.

At first I was very cynical about whether the journals would be a good way of meeting people, but I'll swallow my pride and admit I was wrong.  I've got chatting to some really cool people because of the new feature.
