Balthazar sounds very distinguished ... Well, April and May are proving exhausting but We knew they would be ... that's what moving is all about when you've WAYYY too much stuff! Master and I have been steadily downsizing ... We've reduced by about half! But getting to that state has meant a lot of agonising decision-making and a huge amount of time, especially with the sheer amount of paper I had in My study. The pet shop was thrilled with bags and bags of shred! The acid criterion is "Will I be pleased to see this in 3 years time?" That helps Me throw a lot of stuff out for sure! Logistically, it's a tough move between selling stuff, moving stuff, and working out what We need and can take in the 5th wheeler van. There's a lot of storage space, but weight becomes more of the issue. I've got the digital bathroom scales out in the van and everything gets weighed as it goes in! The modifications were expensive but necessary so I can study as I go ... and the guys have done a truly professional job. But We're a bit broke now, especially as We got less for Our 2 cars that We sold than We should have ... the global recession is starting to be an excuse for everything! How it can make a car lose 1/3 of its value in about 6 weeks I don't know, but that means there are some plans for the van that will just have to wait a while. On the upside, the lawyers expect probate to be granted on Mum's estate any day now, it will be so good to be able to put her house on the market after 7 months! All 3 of us offspring are keen to sell, so hopefully it will go quickly. Meanwhile, I was talking to a sub but that has gone cold as he has decided he can't get involved with someone who will be travelling the countryside. he knew that from the start but I guess it finally dawned on him that it will be a while before We settle somewhere. Of course, just when I really could have USED a slave ... to help shift all this stuff ... instead Our local young Dom friend has offered to help out! Our backs and knees will be unendingly grateful! Right now Master and I both look at least 10 years older than Our ages and feel older still. So 1 week today We hand over the keys and off We go. Scary that there's quite a lot to do yet ... but also exciting to start a whole new life. We're only going about 300km at first (to show the van off to Master's family) and planning on a week's R & R there to recover from all this before setting off on much longer paths. I'll keep popping in here when We have broadband! Best wishes to all the sick and injured, congrats to Jewel on a great result ... bye for now! Maam Jay aka violet[A]
