DarkSteven -> I just went into another era. (5/2/2009 7:27:59 PM)

I was at a consignment market recently and bought a razor. Metal, taken only double edged razor blades.

I've been shaving with it.  It is so different from the cartridge razors common today.

It is all metal, no plastic.
It does not conform to my face like a cartridge razor.
The blades are reasonably priced.

I suspect that the blades will last a LOT longer than the cartridges. It's always pissed me off to pay so much for cartridges that last such a short time.

So I've taken a firm step backwards in time, back to when things may not have worked so well, but they were built to last and give value.

I had to laugh because it doesn't look like you've shaved at all.  : )

Did you get the cup and the brush, too?

What? Did you shave the facial hair off? Say it ain't so.

LOL everyone went the same place I had to ask if you even shaved.

The reason your Cartridge razors last such a short time is because you wait and then shave if you clean shaved daily you would not have that problem because the hair that grows back with 5 o'clock shadow is a more delicate hair folicle. The longer you wait to shave the stonger the folicle gets and so that you know facial hair is some tuff stuff.

If you like the old style Blade Razors you may want to look into a straight razor: Dad taught me to shave with one saying that if I was going to shave I was going to know how to shave.

A Straight razor in my opinion is the closest shave a man will ever have. I miss my old Straight Razor, I lost it in a move but I was really strung out then I may have even left it.

So that you know Yes you will cut yourself in the beginning. They aren't bad if you get that crayon looking wax thing stick I forget what it's called I haven't bought them in so long. The little stick stops the bleeding quickly and doesn't sting all that much.

The cool thing is when you shave with a straight razor you get less ingrown hairs and there is less agitation when it grows back I guess it is because on blade goes over the area once instead of 4 blades like 4 or 5 times.

I hope you enjoy it however be sure to take the blade out and DRY IT OFF before you return it to the Head otherwise you can get Rust and that could cause one hell of an infection.

ALSO ALCOHOL DIP AND DRY EVERYTHING

The reason people went to the disposable cartridge is because of the bacteria that breeds in those types of razors.

Styptic pencil. That's what stops the bleeding.

And hurts when you use it.

It's still better than walking around with toilet paper/tissue dots all over your face or legs.   LOL

When you are ready to try a straight razor, let Me know, its one of those things I do REALLY well...

I use a straight razor with disposable blades.

Agree with Steel, it's awesome, and easily a much closer and more satisfying shave than the regular "wet stick" razors.

I can't bear shaving foam tho, so I just splash on hot water to open the pores.
