Can anybody tell me about the significance of the blue rose in D/s culture?  I'm intrigued.

If it has been placed into your anus without having thorns removed, it means you've been really bad.

Off the top of my head, I don't know of anything specific, but I did find a website that might interest you.

If the rose is two-toned blue and black, then it's probably because the Leather Pride flag is predominantly made up of black and blue stripes.

Never heard of it.
Do you mean the Black Rose? If that's what you're talking about then that's a bdsm group in the DC area.

But never heard of the blue rose.

Never heard of a blue rose having any meaning at all.

I read somewhere that the blue rose signifies submission.

I would assume the link to BDSM has to be because of the "mysterious" symbolism and the idea of fantasy?

I did some research on this once.  Some feel that the blue symbolizes the black and blue of bruises.  It was often made of leather and used in the original leather community.

Until more recent years it was impossible to breed a blue rose so it was something that really stood out to see one.  Some use it only because it is different than the norm, which many feel would aptly describe someone in the BDSM lifestyle.  Something beautiful yet still a bit unusual for the average person.

Never come across a blue rose as having any significance. However whilst Red Roses and the colours Black and Red hold some degree of traditional significance (Traditional being things used over time and having meanings depicting parts of the BDSM sub-culture which some find importance or appear to be a customary fad or fetish), there is nothing to stop you attaching your own significance to a Blue Rose if you choose and you can find others to agree with you. However thank you for bringing this up as I have a passion for blood roses, black roses and indeed blue roses all which are significant in my world.

Most everyone was so generous with answers and insights.  Thank you!
