I struggle with EXACTLY the same problem *sighs*  Skinny ankles and double joints.  I've been told the more I practice, the more by ankles and legs will get adjusted to it.  Thats the best I can do for ya hun.  Wish I knew myself [sm=banghead.gif]

Just curious,  was this advice coming from an actual doctor?  I'm always amazed how some people with no medical knowledge of a situation or condition think "practice" will change things.  To me it is like telling an parapalegic that if they keep practicing and believing hard enough, they will get out of the wheelchair and walk.  While it MAY be possible, medically it is unlikely.

My advice would be to talk with a real doctor.  If you aren't comfortable explaining it is a BDSM situation, say you are taking up martial arts or something.  Make sure that you will not cause any damage.  Discomfort is one thing, damaging your body for the whim of another is something entirely different.

I love it when you talk dirty.

I've spent years in SE Asia, where most peasants kneel or hunch because they don't have chairs. It is just a matter of exercise, doing it every day, and your body will adjust. Westerners just do not have the muscle and joint development that facilitates it, simply because we've been using chairs since the Middle Ages. So if you really want to, just do it a couple of times a day, seven days a week, and you will feel it gets more manageable over the months. I'll bet you can't carry a 60 lb sack of rice on your head without touching it, while walking for 4 hours, either....

My work requires me to be close to the ground quite a bit, and on ground you might not want to put anything but the soles of your boots on.  So, you work in the squatted position.  I remember early on thinking "How the hell do Vietnamese peasants do this for hours?".  Well, I guess it just takes time to build up the muscle and joint strength to do it.  I'm always stiff for a few minutes when I get up (ain't gettin' any younger, ya know), but don't suffer any major ill effects.
I don't see why the same "tolerance build up" approach wouldn't work with kneeling for extended periods.  But I've never had to kneel for longer than a few minutes without being released into a sitting with my legs tucked under me position.

Start with kneeling on a couple of yoga mats or gardening mats first.
But here's the trick; both muscly men and long lean men have felt better with one or two 'phonebooks wrapped in a towel and placed between their calves and the backs of their thighs; limits the angle of stretch. Don't know if it will work with women, but it does with men. Good luck!
