That'd be great, I'd still need to connect with someone who had connections with local munch groups (I think that'd be key in making it a success), and also someone who'd be willing to take the lead in organizing and running the event.  I just don't have the time to do that myself.  But on the other hand, I have the place and I can offer support for such an event.

FukinTroll -> RE: Slave Auction (5/5/2009 9:05:59 PM)

Lady is the BDSM community taboo in your neck of the woods?

Reading over this and the responses gave me a thought.  I do happen to own a small civic center in SW Virginia... and being the sole owner I can book anything I like there.  Its in the Blacksburg area.  Now I would not know the first thing about organizing such an event, but if someone else were interested in doing so, I'd be willing to work with them.  Depending on how many decided to turn out, I might be able to get some discount rates with local hotels and such.

The one catch is this is a conservative area, so the event would have to be closed to the public, strictly monitored to keep it private, and advertising would have to be done either through sites like this or through area munch groups (of which I'm not presently involved in any of them so have no contacts there).

Anyone interested?

You have no idea how much a place like that in SE Virginia would thrive!.... We have zero around here and its a big area population wise.

No, but our group is a bit small, considering the size of the city.  Nothing like the numbers in Atlanta.

littlewonder -> RE: Slave Auction (5/5/2009 9:15:10 PM)

This wouldn't really appeal to me since I'm monogamous, don't play casually, don't gamble and it's just not something that holds my interest.

I would only attend if Master wanted to attend since he does like to attend dungeons and play parties from time to time.

Thanks for responding the.dark.  (As always, My regards to Darcy.)

No, the rules of the event aren't rigid.  We have monogamous, non play couples come along, too.  We have one M/s couple who basically come for the reasons given above.  He likes to play poker, she only serves him.  Still, it gives him a chance at cards and she socializes with the other house servants in the early evening.  He tends to give his play money away during the auction part.  (He does sit in on the auction, to watch the bidding and help others trying to make certain purchases.)  They do stay through the play portion, even if it's just to talk with others.

Jeff, it's good to see you posting again.  (My regards to Carol.)  What?  Married people can't like blackjack?

*smiles* thanks LadyPact. So with that clarification, I guess it would depend on how I felt about the people. It's still pretty true that Carol & I don't exactly "fit in" in a typical BDSM setting. That being said, it's also delightful to be able to do WIITWD in front of others when those others would be both accepting and otherwise socially a match. A card evening sounds like fun and in truth, I wouldn't have issues having Carol serve another d-type. Such a thing would probably be fun for all involved and if he was even remotely compatible with her, who knows what new ideas she might come back to me with? It probably goes without saying that I'd have some pretty strict limits set for a dom I didn't know.

Perhaps you could do the gambling and bidding with "cash" notes and use a portion of the proceeds for a local charity. As odd as this may sound I would even suggest DVIS.

LadyPact -> RE: Slave Auction (5/5/2009 10:03:09 PM)

I had this up earlier in the thread, but it might have been missed since I was replying to Des.

We have done charity events that have been for real money.  I've participated as both auctioneer, as well as be auctioned off as a Top for various causes.  (I'm kind of a soft touch for that kind of thing.)  We haven't done one specifically for DVIS, but we have held events that directly benefited the American Cancer Society, National Leather Angel's Fund, and the Shriner's Hospital, to name a few.

The idea for the fake money for this one is more for the fun of the gambling portion of the evening.   What I should have also added was that it also gives the Tops an even break.  Every Top gets a certain amount of fake cash at the beginning, to give all something of the same chance, not just the one with the biggest checkbook.

I would imagine it would be the same here, since there's nothing else like it.  But as I said, I'd have to have others to work with on such a project.  Its simply not something I could do myself.  One of the main reasons I brought this up was to see exactly what sort of interest there might be in this area.

What kind of Troll do you think I am?

If I don't have honies with money I can't afford to play.

SLURP!

P.S. Any honies with money need a... somewhat... charming sponge?

P.P.S. I think it is wonderful that you and yours are doing charity work... kinda softens the blow to the community eh?

LadyPact -> RE: Slave Auction (5/5/2009 10:28:36 PM)

Padriag, I can't say that I know anything about your area, or the groups near it.  What I can tell you is, a lot of munch groups would practically kill to have the opportunity that you just threw out there.  If that building were in GA, I'd be doing whatever was in My power to be your new best friend.  If I weren't moving in a couple of months, you'd have Me for such a project in person.

Soften the blow?  What fun is that?

FrostedFlake -> RE: Slave Auction (5/6/2009 12:12:29 AM)

I would like to crash a party like this one.

Sounds a lot like a fantasy I once had. Did I say once? Pardon.

I Wonder what monogamous couples (above) think solo subs do for fun.

I figured such might be the case.  I'm just not sure what groups there in this area.  I'm pretty sure there are some, I just haven't had either the time or the inclination to go looking for them.  I would think there would probably be a group in Blacksburg at least, that's about 45 min away.  Course even places like Greensboro, NC are only 2 hrs away and I know there are several groups there.  I was hoping someone from the area who is also already active in some groups in this region might respond.  Otherwise I suppose I could go looking for local groups an their contact info.  Only thing about that is, I'd be more concerned about who I was opening the door too.

Edited to add I did a quick search and there is apparently at least one munch group in Blacksburg, VA.  All I found was email address, no info about them or who runs it.  Anyone have any helpful info?  I'd like to have some idea who I'm contacting.

You will need an auctioneer and I do have some experience with them as a former licensed auctioneer and I have done charity ("slave" does some service, not BDSM or sexual) and done a bit with slave auctions with play money. If you get it set up, I will do the auctioneering for you.

Be well....

Nothing much different to what I did when I was single.
Geez, we aren't prepacked into a monogamous relationship at birth.[;)]

I would be interested in attending if you should have an auction. If there is one somewhere else that someone can give me details on, I would like to know that too.

I know of one next week but you really wouldn't want to go there. In fact, that is true for almost everyone on this thread. <grins>

Padriag,

i get a listing (used to be the event coordinator for a group in Columbia, SC) of all the events in the South East and all the groups and unfortunately i can't find any information on the group in Blacksburg. i will contact the person who puts out the listing and see if she has any information.

heartfelt
