I'm curious to hear views (since this varies widely from Domme to Domme, in my experience) about just how carefully scripted/choreographed Your ideas of playing are, and how closely You prefer to stick to that script.

For me, natch, beyond whatever input I have before play starts, I prefer to be a bound, controlled, plaything.  That isn't to say that I am totally passive--but I certainly take my cues from the Domme.

But there are so many different styles of play I'm wondering, for You personally, do You prefer to try to actualize Your own idea of how a scene is going to go or do You prefer to have a general outline and then play it by ear?

Can't help ya there. I don't "scene".

Andalusite -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/5/2009 8:43:35 AM)

Usually it is very free-form, reacting off of each other, but occasionally I've played with a specific toy at the bottom or submissive's request, or done a role-playing scenario. Most of my play has been private, within long term, committed relationships, but I've done some public play as well with a potential new person or when I was between relationships.

thishereboi -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/5/2009 10:24:34 AM)

I have not topped very often, but when I did, I didn't use a script. I knew what toys I had and I knew what he liked, so I just winged it most of the time. When I have bottomed, the top has never had a script that I was aware of. That doesn't mean they didn't, but if they did, they didnt' let me know about it. I have to say I prefer it that way.

Venatrix -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/5/2009 11:17:58 AM)

I usually have a vague outline of a "script" in mind, but it almost always gets adjusted when I'm actually in the middle of things.  Much more important is my mood.  I really have to be into topping someone, otherwise he doesn't get my best effort, and I think it almost always shows.

DVsFox -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/5/2009 1:26:47 PM)

When my Owner and I interact, it is entirely improvised.  We just flow with the heat of the moment.  On certain special ccasions, activities will be prearranged to a degree, but it's far from a blow-by-blow prearrangement.  Just a general idea of things.

When I play with my girls, I have certain acts/positions/images I want completed. The segues between these objectives is spur of the moment, but there's a mental checklist for what will occur. Sometimes, not all of it works out, and that's fine - it's the journey, not the destination.

I don't share my sexual shopping list prematurely, so maybe the girls think its spur of the moment. Sometimes it is, sometimes its not. My journal has a few rough sketches of activities that will one day become reality.

If its a scene like kidnap or interrogation, then I will be forming ideas in my head and putting together a whole load of props but I never think too much about what Im going to say, how I'm going to act.
I recently did an interrogation performance and I practiced how this was going to go at least 4 or 5 times. On the night I just did my own thing, so all that I had planned was a bit of a waste of time.
I do tend to think up new ideas a lot though. I will read something or hear something and think 'I want to have a go at that' and I will then put some thought into how its going to work, what do I need to make it work and so on. Outlines are good for some things but only some things and certainly for me, not most things.

You mention different styles of play and one that immediately comes to mind is role-play. In the past I always imagined that role-play was something to do with dressing up and playing a part and something that takes very specific forward planning. I have always told my partner that its really not my thing but he pointed out to me recently that we role-play a lot during more intimate activity and that it has nothing to do with play acting but more to do with one of us suddenly speaking out loud about the thought that is getting us off and the other one falling into that role. It can be very spontaneous and extremely hot.

Yeah that makes good sense.  Kidnap play was probably one of the things I had in mind when I posed the question, just because it's such a maddeningly exciting concept for me and I've never had the chance to be kidnapped.

You're also right on w/r/t roleplay.  There is so much just under the surface once roleplaying starts that it's a thrilling and vertiginous situation when both participants are really immersed.  Absolutely devastatingly exciting and arousing.

FullfigRIMAAM1 -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/6/2009 5:17:22 AM)

If I were professional, I would loosely script, so as to not completely derail into something else, once my mind got goind...   However, I don't scene, because it's too much work, and I'd expect very good pay for it.
My kink is D/s, and within that relationship framework, we might do many fun things, but not scening.    M

KoolnSassy -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/6/2009 11:52:19 AM)

I'm not one to enjoy being controlled by a script. Now I like knowing limits and desires, but scripts - na - takes all the fun out of it for Me. Once you're Mine well - you're Mine.

AcademyForSlaves -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/7/2009 9:23:21 PM)

I dislike following anyone's script, whether it be My own or the slave's, because a script implies it is a session and only roleplay, not REAL domination. I left the prodom field years ago and have no intention of returning to it. I much prefer being a lifestyle Mistress.

To all those slaves out there who dislike Mistresses charging a fee: If you act like a client, you will be treated like one. If you want to find a real Mistress, try being a real slave.

There. That was My vent for the day. (Darn Full Moon!) LOL

MmeGigs -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/8/2009 12:57:02 PM)

When I was a newbiedom, I was terribly afraid that I'd suffer brain freeze at some point and not know what to do next, so I wrote a script.  I'd start with this, move on to that, then some of the other, and on and on.  I actually wrote it down and rehearsed it in my head.  I'd always plan way more than there would ever be time to actually accomplish, and I didn't usually follow the script.  I'd start with it then go whatever direction the scene took us.  Having the script in my head made it easier for me to keep the scene flowing smoothly to preserve his headspace (and thus my enjoyment).  If what I was doing wasn't getting me the reactions I wanted I was prepared to try something else.

I don't do much pre-planning anymore.  When we go to a party we bring everything but the kitchen sink, so we're ready for whatever mood should strike.  With a new playmate I'm likely to do more planning because I'm in unfamiliar territory and want to give myself plenty of options if I need to change things up.

LadyConstanze -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/8/2009 2:21:47 PM)

I like a rough plan, I don't like a script.

The beauty with a plan is that you can stick to it, fall back on it but it gives you room to move.

With a rigid script, personally I would feel a bit like a robot, but that is just a personal preference, I rather go with the flow and have a plan I can fall back on (sort of subbie doesn't really react well on activity x, let's move to activity y and see how that goes...) - after all BDSM is a form of interacting with each other, not a monologue...

Goddess2002 -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/8/2009 6:22:32 PM)

Sometimes improvisation as the mood arises...sometimes loosely scripted. I'm working on an elaborate role play/ vampire-themed scene right now that is going to be a HUGE surprise for someone soon!

AcademyForSlaves -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/8/2009 8:46:28 PM)

I dislike scripts so much that even when I filmed My 20 films I never followed the script I had written and soon filmed it au natural (aka improv/ablib). It made them more real and much more fun to film. Why would anyone want to follow a script? Do you follow a script when you have sex? How dull that would be. I live for spontinaity (sk?)

Venatrix -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/8/2009 8:52:12 PM)

Here's a newsflash:  people approach sex and BDSM whatever way they want.  Just because you think your way is the only right way doesn't mean anyone else does.

I live for spontinaity (sk?)

This coming week I'll be giving my pet the cruise of her life, chalked full of tiny surprises. What will appear as spontaneity to her is the fruit of my labor. (A labor of love, by the way, I love to plan).

I like a good surprise as much as the next guy, but having a plan (not a script, in the strictest sense) is invaluable to getting more done faster.

MistressCara -> RE: Script vs Improv (5/9/2009 12:50:12 AM)

I dont have a script - although it may be a good idea for the more boring subs who do not use their own inititiave and seem to have no imagination [they are never allowed to stay for long anyway once this is apparent]
I sometimes have an end result or an idea Im working towards, an aim if you will.
Mostly my subs think everything I do was pre-considered and worked out, that it was all planned and everything that happens was meant to happen.

and I let them think that, lol
