OK - It's a rant but I'll respond anyway.
1) I agree with those above that lack of experience does not negate orientation. You can be gay and celibate, heterosexual and a virgin, bi and NOT have done a Katy Perry.

2) It IS fashionable for girls to declare themselves bi. Even 'nilla ones. So this isn't all a case of Domly pressure. Were there a lot of closet bi girls out there before? Or is it simply that society has changed and we have realised that the world is full of much richer possibilities than "straight" or "gay".  Look back in literature and the arts and you'll realise there have been plenty of girls who've experimented with same sex relationships at puberty before settling down into entirely satisfactory heterosexual marriages. Some girls will do it just cos they know how much it turns guys on to watch...but I'm not sure that makes it fake unless they aren't enjoying it....

3) It's still much rarer for guys to admit to being bi-curious - but as has been suggested to me, that's probably because they risk being labelled gay, and homophobia is still sufficiently rampant in some communities for them to risk getting beaten up for it or ostracised.

I LIKE Opera.
I Love the Theater.
I like to dress nice
Used to get manicures when I could afford.
I don't like Sports
Would rather watch a Drama of some sort.
I cry at movies.

According to my Gay Friends I am a Gay Man.

I answer like this.

I would be Gay if it weren't for the only thing I have to look forward to each night is sticking my Cock into some Hairy Asshole or getting Fucked by some Hairy Asshole.

I have always perferred the touch of the softer fair.

janiebelle -> RE: Argh!! (5/7/2009 12:43:36 PM)

It's about societal norms at a given time.
According to the west's (more pointedly America's) current sexual mores, it's "hot" for a woman to express a lesbian inclination, whether there is experience or not.
In contrast:   "that one time at band camp" can brand any man homosexual for life.

Good job clearing that up, now run along and tell all the virgins that they aren't straight [;)]

I get that your venting about having trouble getting whatever sort of threesome arrangement your trying to find. But in doing so you've managed to tell off every inexperienced bi girl on the site. Yeah I know inexperienced girls can be frustrating I've been through high school, but maybe you can remember when you were inexperienced and find a little sympathy for them. Perhaps that would lead to something a little more positive than telling a chunk of the community they are wrong, like maybe filling out your profile. You could say something about only seeking experienced girls.

ExKat -> RE: Argh!! (5/7/2009 2:30:26 PM)

I vote no for bi-curious as a label...I've always disdained "curious" as a label most anything apart from babies or cats.

It's true that many women on here are not hardcore bisexuals. However, by very definition, bisexual means a little of both. Many of the women that I've run into on here and in real life who define themselves as bi are about 75% into men/25% into women. And that's okay. The fact that I like men more doesn't make me only curious about women...I've been with women and it definitely has it's charms. Of course, partners should share their level of experience before they meet, but I don't think that needs to be part of the label. Should we have a listing of the exact amount of sexual experience someone has had next to their label?

Seems like there are lots of more annoying things about CM to rant about.

~Katie, who considered herself bisexual long, long before she ever put on that cherry chapstick

AlexandraLynch -> RE: Argh!! (5/7/2009 3:26:45 PM)

I've always had both male and female lovers. I knew I was bi right about the age of twelve, and never really stressed about it, any more than I did about having grey eyes. It was just how I was.

Though at the moment I have more female lovers than male, which is an odd change. Here I was with a female sub who said she was straight, and I said fine, I have a girlfriend too so I don't "need" you to be bi, and I guess that was a safe enough space for her to change her mind and explore things. I am not distressed, just slightly surprised.

I can't stand that song.

Maybe the purist in me is just pissed because Jill Sobule did it first and did it better.

I'm with you Nihilus I hate that song.  Sobule did it so much better!

God help us sailing Bum if maths is your weak point then I hope you have someone to navigate you if you sail, out of sight of land.. [:D]

Bi-curious is a good option for those who are interested in finding out about same sex and than decide it is their cup of tea. Even marking bisexual on a profile doesn't give the whole story. For example I show bisexuality as my preference because I have no issues with hands exploring when having a threesome with Neets and a male friend of ours. It also doesn't discourage a male play partner if I am in the mind to work on my CBT play areas. Thus to be technically correct I should identify as "Limited Bisexuality"

A good mate of mine (Non BDSM but bedroom kinky or so his wife tells me, once said; "I'm straight and it scares the hell out of me because I know somewhere out there is a man who can turn me on. I pray to God that I never meet him."

MarsBonfire -> RE: Argh!! (5/8/2009 2:41:49 PM)

The other problem with this sort of situation is that many people seem to think that "bisexual" somehow means "anything that moves."

Actually, it's closer to "Any one who moves me."

The only advantage to a "bi curious" button that I could see is that it gives the poor bastard walking into the shark tank/bedroom some idea of what the danger is ahead of time. Anyway, I doubt it will happen. Admitting information that might save some folks whiplash of the heart tends to interfere with the "ISO S/W/Bi/Fem" fantasy. In other words, even if you built it, they wouldn't use it.

I knew I was bi before I ever kissed a girl. That's what made me want to kiss her.

That being said, there are a lot of girls (maybe guys too, I dunno) who "try to be bi." Especially in my generation it was really trendy to be bi. I knew lots of girls who played around with it in high school and college and never so much as check a girl out anymore. And don't get me wrong, I definitely benefitted from the plethora of experimenting girls to play with, but I definitely don't understand the "bi until graduation" phenomenon.

MistressRouge -> RE: Argh!! (5/9/2009 3:17:39 AM)

Flexi-sexual, is a much better term, pours everything into one delicious label [:D]
