If you have the ability to look up the words and music to this song..even if you are young..it will touch your heart...the song is "play me" by Neil Diamond..i know.. Neil Diamond...so Pop! but i hadn't listened to his music for so long...and wow..he is good! Oh, heck..maybe i am just being emotional tonight and feel like it speaks to me right now.

Classical Gas by Mason Williams was the first one to pop into my head...followed by a whole bunch of others.

Mine would be Tears of a Clown by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. It's the words, if only I could do half as much with words as Smokey Robinson I would be well chuffed.

Let It Be.
It's one of the most beatiful songs I've ever heard. The message still carries to this day.

Teenage Dirtbag. I kid you not. It still makes me remember all that teenaged angst and the whole "I don't fit in anywhere/why doesn't anyone really understand me?" thing I felt when I was 13.

Now excuse me whilst I go take the rest of my medication.

Neil Diamond wrote great songs!

Myself, I love anything Gordon Lightfoot wrote. He's amazing. And Pete Seeger, who just turned 90! And the whole Beatles catalogue is fantastic!

They all wrote so many great songs, I can't name just one.

Yes.  Let It Be.  Also, saw Gordon Lightfoot in concert in Grand Rapids when I was 28.  He was great except when someone snapped a picture and he stopped dead to berate the person for 15 minutes.

Buffalo Springfield:  For What It's Worth

Three more that always come to mind for me, for various reasons.

Rainbow Connection and Saying Goodbye by the Muppets (What?  They're beautiful songs)
In My Life by The Beatles.  It was the wedding song at M. and my ceremony, and has always been the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

I'm noticing a LOT of Beatles music hitting this board, LOL.

I know this type of music is not popular with most people anymore, but, they both make me think "Wow!  What power!", and lift my spirits when I need it most.

Here is the first one.

And the second song.
