While that garage door opener is undoubtedly more attractive than the one bolted to my garage ceiling, I think that you will find that performance is highly variable at times and the maintenance cost will be several times higher than the electronic model.  Of course the one from Sears doesn't give blow jobs.

Oddly enough G2 I was thinking about getting an active RFID system linked to the garage door opener with the trigger being the flash button on the bike.  The issue would then be turning the alarm off in the house before opening the garage door, so by getting the right alarm system (£1,200/$1,750) and linking the whole system up to the home automation server I could flash the lights at the garage, disable the alarm, open the garage, turn the lights on in the house and unlock the front door.  Sixty seconds later the garage door would close.
If I still drank coffee the perculator could spring to life, I could have the TV turn on if I wanted to, have music play, you get the idea.

Keeping security in mind, if the bike was ever nicked a simple e-mail to the BMS server would delete the bike's RFID tag number from the system meaning they might get the bike but nothing in the house.

Of course, as VND says, I still couldn't get blown.

Okay Garage doors is what I do.

I was an Installed and now I manage the office.

MOST Brands of WELL KNOWN Garage Door Openers have a KEYCHAIN remote system. LiftMaster (A Chamberlain Brand the same as Sears, Craftsman, MasterMechanic, and AccessMaster) is the most common opener on the Market Second to the Genie (Those of you on the East Coast May know Horman and Martin better or even Marantec.) These Most common names all have a couple things that can make life easier.

1) Liftmaster and OverHeadDoor (Genie) all have Mini Keychain Remotes that can be programmed to open your door from up to 25 feet to a 10 yards away.

2) Most companies make Keyless Entry Systems for thier GDO's (Garage Door Openers) this will still require you to get off the bike but you will not have to go inside just go to the keybad and enter a code.

3) Most remotes (regular sized one) can be mounted to your Bikes Gas Tank with Velcro or Sticky Foam. Not the Popular Option but it is better than spending THAN MUCH MONEY to open your door.

FourQ So that you know a Mini Remote shouldn't cost you more than 40 quid AT THE MOST, Why spend that much money on your bike when all you need to do is connect a remote to your KEYS?

That is Retarded the amount that would cost you for the bike.

If you ever have garage door questions let me know I work on them all day long.

Steel

Edited to Add: FourQ all it takes to make any remote inactive is to hold the learn button on your opener head for 20 seconds and then all codes are erased. then just reprogram in the remining remotes to the opener head. VERY SIMPLE MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE.

The expense was for the alarm system.  I have a remote garage door opener but if I pressed it while the house alarm was on it would seriously annoy the neighbours after the first couple of times.

Currently I have to get off the bike, unlock the front door, disable the house alarm, go outside, open the garage... you get the idea.
The cost was for a house alarm compatible with the BMS system so that it could be disabled from outside the house using RFID.

From the security side, I wouldn't need the door opener to remove it from the system.  If someone steals a regular garage door opener you have to be inside the garage to remove it from the system.  If I'm stuck 150 miles from home I can send an e-mail from the mobile phone and disable the garage door entry system from the middle of a bike rally.

Did he say he's got a couple extras?  I could really use that sort of garage opener - the electric/mechanical type don't wotk when the power goes out.

Lol...4Q and SofU- you all are such men. Taking a joke and turning it into an actual discussion of garage door openers. Heavens, what's next? You could just get my type of garage door opener which is to ram the front bike tire into the door. Yes, that was a complete accident- forgot I had on the winter padded gloves and when I went to squeeze the front brakes the padding rolled up on the acceleration. No damage thank goodness, I'd have never lived it down at home.

Just to be an ass.

So that you know a 1/3HP is a smaller Motor however a 1/2HP and a 3/4 HP have the same motor with a different capasitor.

Save the money go 1/2 HP and just make sure you have a Professional Wind your Springs with a Proper counterballance any motor is about the same...... except on Solid Wood Doors Get the most amount of power you can and Jack Shaft Openers are the best but pay the extra money for the Rear Bumpers or you will pay through the nose for Flipped Cable Repairs

Steel ..... Knows his Shit

C'mon hun, you know fine well I don't have an ego.
Besides, mine's one from the early 70's, made by Henderson.  The damned button's huge, not one of these handy little keyfobs that you get these days.
Henderson say they can replace the remote but only if I buy a whole new system...... including the door!!

Arrrggghhhh, not fair lol! I guess I shouldn't tell about the time when I laid the bike down in post office parking lot either then and walked in with blood dripping down my arm (didn't know it) and a big hole in my pants to conduct my postal business.
