I guess an otter really isn't a pet but I am sure a few people over the years have had some as pets...I remember the book and movie called "Ring of Bright Water" from the late 60's....

That cat reminds me on a previous cat I had 11 years ago when I had to move back to my parents and he made at night time in my car (whilst I was driving home) a noise which sounded as if someone would say "jawoll"...gosh was I freaked out...as sure as I was that there was nobody in my car, it still was freaking me out at that moment...
