Finally broke out of my shell last night and gathered up the courage to go to my first munch. A great night was had by all. Great fun, conversation, craic. As always in Dublin. Just thought Id put it out to the group, what are munches like in your neck of the woods?

They don't have munches here (at least not that we've been able to find) and we have yet to attend one of the monthly play parties but, unless we happen to be in Madrid, we will be rectifying that on May 23! We have gone out to meet individuals for natas and espresso and have a date for next weekend to meet up with a Master and his wife and slave. That's about all that's afforded here for the time being and until we are more comfortable with the language, it's not something that Sir and I are prepared to attempt to organize right now either.

I am glad that you finally went to one and even more so that you had a good time.

On the other note; I don't attend munches, play parties, dungeons...any of that anymore. Been close to 11 years since the last one I went to.

Glad you enjoyed your first one.

I can say every munch I've been to has been a perfectly pleasant experience, or at least not actively unpleasant. I've quit attending, though, mainly for the same reason I don't attend atheist discussion groups or Libertarian rallies- having one aspect of my life in line with a group usually highlights how many areas I disagree with them rather than giving me a feeling of belonging.

I've gone to a few munches. I think I talked to one or two people who happened to be sitting next to me. And then the next time I went, I sat next to those same people.

I'm not bad at mingling at parties, but there's something about the set up of the local munch that just doesn't feel as comfortable to me.

I'm not sure what it is.

I've always had a wonderful time at the munches I've attended. I usually make new friends that I then hang out with outside the munch and, by the time the resturant is kicking us out, we move on to another place to keep chatting. At the moment I'm all sad because a cold keep me from making a midnight munch last night.

All the munches i have been to are pretty cool. I love my local one best but thats cos they laugh me off when i start getting dirty and flirty after several coacktails usually of the trailer trash variety. It had to be didn't it lol. Oh and then several pints of cider and black tottering around in my heels and chatting anything up that breathes and i mean anything lol.
Having said that i haven't been to one in a while
wonder if they miss me? lol

I have been munching regularly for a few years now. Our munches are pseudo business meetings for our local group, but primarily they are social functions, I go to a restaurant with my friends and have a good time. Because of their public nature, munches are a great starting point for those new to BDSM, you get to meet with others who have similar interests in a safe venue. The people you meet are more than happy to pass on the knowledge they have gained to new people.

Thats what i like about the group in Dublin, there is no pressure, you can just relax and chat to them as if they were just a group of friends enjoying a night out but obviously you need to be respectful too.

It's great to go out there, and meet like minded people.
I've never been to a munch here in Holland,
I don't think they have them either,
there are places where people go to,
but I've never been there.
31 may I'm going to My first D/s party,
so I'll see how that goes.
