College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment.

i just love a story with a happy ending!

DarkSteven -> RE: This is what happens... (5/10/2009 9:12:35 AM)

Quick note - In Colorado, there is a law called the Make My Day Law that permits homeowners to shoot anyone breaking into their home.  The biggest challenge to it was a man who shot a drunk who mistook the house for his own.

I kinda suspected that there would be some couples who shot the other and then used the MMDL as a defense but so far that hasn't happened yet.

Right.  Another true-blue, apple pie-eating, Mom-loving, God-fearing citizen defending his rights.

Let me just ask, how many college students get targeted for an armed invasion of their home?

Was it because they thought these students had massive amounts of cash and valuable items?

Or do you think, just maybe, that we'll find out this had something to do with drugs?

Being drunk is no excuse for anything. Rape, murder, home invasion... being drunk is no excuse.

I just wonder what people would be thinking if the girl was killed instead of just shot twice and expected to recover.

Now it happens in an apartment... the hero has a gun battle with the guy in one room... but the bad guy with the girls does not hear the gun battle 15 feet away...When the hero runs in the bedroom with the girls... the second DEAF bad guy is still taking his cock out?...yea right...Then the hero commences to shoot one of the girls twice before hitting the bad guy as he jumps through the window. What a bunch of crap... it did not happen that way I'd bet.

Good damn lucky thing the idiot didn't kill a lot more people...

Detective Butch

Sorry this post was for the OP not DarkSteven

well, i guess it could happen.....never say never...

but living in atlanta area, and having been a wsb news watcher for all my life, i think it woulda come out by now if that were so......

and, to play the devils advocate, even if they had drugs, that is not an excuse to come rob and rape and all that jazz.

go to rob someone, especially someone you know to have illegal dealings, be prepared to pay with your life.

lifes about choices

I grew up in this area. During the day not so bad, though crack and weed trapping happens a lot just off Old National Highway. At night it becomes pretty bad, and too many small roads and neighborhoods all over for the police to effectively patrol. The College Park Police Department stopped me as a felony stop, for following too close. I didn't blame the cops for that, but pulling everything out of my car (including the backseats) to search it, was a little over the top.

I'm sorry for all of you who live in unsafe areas. I haven't locked the door for the last several months. My main worry is a skunk taking shelter in the garage.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: This is what happens... (5/10/2009 9:44:50 AM)

Don't live in those areas anymore. I do not regret growing up in those areas either, as a good dose of reality is needed to better understand people. I now live in a quiet area at least 30 minutes outside Atlanta. When I lived alone in another area of Atlanta, I rarely locked my door then, but I was known as the "crazy white guy" in that apartment complex.

Since no one has commented on my #5 post I thought I would post again…. Most apartments have thin walls…the distance in anyone room is less than 15 feet… Yet the Hero manages to miss the first bad guy from almost pointblank range. Who could tell where those bullets were going.

Why didn’t he just say “ Drop it asshole” and then shoot if he had too.. No he shoots wildly… the guy runs out the door… The other 4 guys are lucky they did not get shot.

NOW the ace trained hero with a gun… runs in the other room… shoots a girl then gets lucky and shoots the guy…

Damn where were all those bullets going?

Why didn’t he get in a pro stance and said “Drop it asshole’

No… not the hero… start shooting like an untrained dumb shit he was… Lucky there was not a baby in the next apartment or across the alley to take a wild bullet in the head.

Sanity, I did not take a side when I posted.  However, I agree with you.  For the record, the jury didn't make any allowance for the drunkenness as an excuse.

So, you're defending the rights of drug dealers to defend themselves against against people trying to steal their drugs.

That 2nd amendment sure does cover a lot of ground, I guess.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: This is what happens... (5/10/2009 10:00:32 AM)

im just sayin to go into someones home and attempt to rob them is a gamble you will get hurt or die....

or go to prison....i had a bro in law that did 9 years in prison...for armed robbery....of drug dealers.....he gambled, he lost...but at least he survived

yeah i know...redneck familes are a hoot[;)]

kdsub -> RE: This is what happens... (5/10/2009 10:18:27 AM)

Now since no one has commented on #5 and #10 here is the more likely way it happened.

Bad guys did not bring rope or tape ...at least it was not said in the report… None of the boys were tied up… so there was no way the bad guy was going to try and shoot 5 boys with one gun pointblank alone. So it was bullshit about counting bullets and afraid they were all to be shot… Anyway this is an apartment complex…bullets make noise… they were just there for some loot and maybe a feel of pussy… They were not going to make a bunch of noise and take a chance of getting caught.

OK so hero somehow manages to dig around in his backpack while the bad guy picks his nose I guess then starts shooting… There is a bunch of noise and shouting. The first bad guy runs screaming from the room heading back out the door.

Now the second bad guy does one of two things… He comes to see what his friend is shooting at or he tries to open the window and get away. NOT try to rape a girl… what crap!

If bad guy two comes to help his buddy he is between the girls and the door… so hero shoots without regard for the girls behind the bad guy… bad guy is hit and heads for the window to get away.

If bad guy two hears shots and decides to run away by going out the window… Hero comes in room…. sees him trying to get away and shoot him anyway for no reason…and still manages t hit one of the girls. Or the bad guy shoots and hits one of the girls… Makes no difference the Hero shoots first starting the exchange.

Can no one else see what a pile of shit the report is and why dumb asses with guns are more dangerous then the crooks?

Butch

Knowing the area well myself, there is likely more to it, but that area does have a lot of college kids renting low income apartments because it is very close to the MARTA (rapid transit) line that goes to the colleges downtown.

Yanno, rule, on some subjects it's getting to the point where some people don't really need to put any content in their posts. All they need to do is just type a "." and click Submit. We'll still be able to tally their vote, and it'll spare everyone having to read snotty comments about what nobody said anyway.

Just a thought.

K.

You're just such a testy little fella' Kirata.

I know I've suggested this before, but maybe learning yoga or meditation,  some thing to soothe those aggravated nerves of yours.

At the very least, have a few shots of tequila and a few beers before you post, it'll help calm you, trust me.

*sigh*  Another "teaching a pig to sing" thread, complete with ad-hominems and slurs!

ed to add:  Good guy wins; liberals upset.   What's new?
