The second one doesn't count since it was obviously a companion animal for the first. And animals that adopted you don't count either. If it shows up at your door claiming to be in need of tlc, that just says you're an easy mark. There's probably some special cat sign at the doorpost telling other cats to come visit. [:D]
Right now we have one cat, despite me swearing never will there be a cat in this house. Oddly enough she doesn't start my allergies off. One dog in residence. And one horse being boarded elsewhere. I'm a definitely easy mark.
Actually not, was moving in with my other half and the boss has lots of cats, 2 of them got pregnant before they were done, one little kitten was stepped on by mistake and was terribly shy, so boss (he saw me coming and knew I would be suckered in) asked me if I could play with the little kitten and try and socialize it, nobody wanted him because he was so shy, so I started carrying him around in my sweater (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/138/322148579_6fd525c0ae.jpg?v=0) and he grew so attached to me and I to him, that I wanted the little boy. In the meantime his brother who looked a bit funny, so nobody wanted a cat that looks and behaves like Charlie Chaplin, had also attached himself to me, so we ended up with 2 brothers, then my other half decided it is not fair that I got 2 boys, he wants a girl, and got a girl (sadly was run over a year later). Scary cat has grown into a huge tom (neutered) and his fave hobby is beating up dogs he doesn't like, funny little brother looks like a girl and some rumour mongers claim he's a bit gay.
Now both cats decided last year to rob the exotic pet shop, nice pet rat baby who was designed to be snake food was rescued from the cats, brought to the vet, nursed back to health, then had a hernia etc. (so several hundred £ later...) sadly he died after 6 months, he had pneumonia and was suffering so much that I thought it would be kinder to let him go (aka have him put down, still felt like an executioner) but I already had bought him 2 friends (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3129/2803633650_e44ed85892.jpg?v=0) who were dumbo rats - because of the shape of their ears I thought, but oh no, they also tend to grow much bigger than regular rats and now with less than a year are 35 and 40 cm without the tail, frisky little nutters who will steal everything, glass of wine near them? Forget it, they'll have their snouts in and slurp it up.... (as much as I like them, after they had their noses in I usually don't want it anymore)
Now I'm going away for a medical vacation on Saturday, but a friend of mine asked me if I would come to the dog rescue place with her as she wants a dog, I'm afraid I might increase the family....
