If you put up a face pic, please be smiling. Scowls don't make people appear domlier but just grumpy.

Personally I never did, he didn't either. We were honest in describing ourselves. But you can be attracted to a pic and yet the same person in real life doesn't do it for you, and vice versa. I know of people who were turned off by pics yet when they met at a munch they found there was attraction.

For me, if you insist on a picture instead of an honest self assessment/description I'd be just as happy to know ahead of time we don't suit. I feel as if those who have to have pics are looking for nsa, not a relationship. May not be true but that's my view.

I think you should make the decision which is best for YOU.  It IS nice to see photographs of people, but for various reasons some people just cannot post public photographs of themselves on this site  or don't wish to for various reasons (having them stolen for one thing).  If you don't feel completely comfortable having public photos, I would delay it until you were.  You can always send photos to individuals you may start chatting with and come to like.

Best of luck!

I prefer it if there's a pic. In my profile I specify that if they don't have a pic, I probably don't want to talk to them. Probably.
Exceptions are for people who are very decent or at least interesting. I still find it a bit uncomfortable, though. So many of them are just being trolls...

It completely matters to me to see what someone looks like.

1) If they don't have a picture, then are they guilty/ashamed? If so that is going to be a problem.

2) I'm human, and attraction is important to me. I mean I've never been the pub type, but it's pretty ridiculous to have this idea of not knowing. That completely flips natural psychology.

3) Intentionally left blank to appease the "personality" people.

4) I just think it's nice to put a face with words. Sometimes someone will post pictures that reveal a lot about their personalities...such as odd fingernails or desolate looks.

I don't think you have to smile though. My pictures are awful, and I don't care...they are me!

On the issue of getting them stolen however, people are going to be dicks anyway. Someone made a fake facebook of me...it just shattered my glass heart (pft, who cares).

Right now i have a picture for my avatar, though seriously thinking of going back to the fairies. My reason to put it up is so people know who they are talking/typing to when they address me. I am not using this site to find a relationship, so it is immaterial, if i was to be honest a picture would be needed. As a friend i dont care what a person looks like, but to have a D/s relationship i have a thing for skinny.

I like the skull.

I don't care what you look like, since I'm just here for an exchange of thoughts and ideas.

Ty. and I like the skull too. I chose it because I thought it was apt for My Username. I'm not here looking for anyone either, if I do then great but if not no big deal, I doubt I'll find anyone online anyway but I just wondered if P/people saw a picture as important in a profile, or whether it made it more interesting to look at.

marysdream -> RE: to pic or not to pic-that is the question. (5/14/2009 8:32:31 PM)

Do you, as submissives or slaves care whether or not you know what someone looks like as and when you look at their profile?. I can't decide whether its worth it or not and since you're My "target audience" I thought I'd ask your opinion. Ty.

It is nice to know what someone looks like, but theres also a part of me that is fascinated with the idea of getting to know someone for who they are/how they think before putting much weight on the physical.  Although , physical attraction does matter...I dont have much of a rush to request a picture. I'll respond to the dom who captures my mind more than my eyes.
