I was listening to this on CD last night and thought I would post it.  Most of the American members (at least the old farts like me) have probably heard this before but I thought some the British and other folks might enjoy it.

That gave this Brit a chuckle, anyway.  Our Tom knew a lot about his subject matter - one has one's suspicions . . . .  [;)]

That is great!  I  sent it around to some of the local groups.  [:D]

Sort of a catchy tune...i think it's stuck in my head. Too funny.

Tom was a lecturer in mathematics at Harvard in the US.  His songs were very popular in the 1950s and 1960s when i was in high school and college.

They are still funny today.  Two of my favorites are "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" and "We'll All Go Together When We Go."    Did anyone memorize the "Element Song"?

windchymes -> RE: For all you masochists (5/15/2009 4:40:09 PM)

They pop up from time to time on satellite radio, too, on the LaughUSA channel.  Funny stuff!

intenze -> RE: For all you masochists (5/15/2009 5:03:40 PM)

I tried to memorize the element song, but its just too darn fast!

cilissa -> RE: For all you masochists (5/15/2009 5:15:32 PM)

i actually have most of his stuff memorized and play it on the guitar at parties when people request "comedy music"

Ballad of the Bobbitts is also a crowd favourite, though i'm not sure why. ;)

I never bothered by one of my daughters did when she was taking chemistry.  It was a briliant piece of work but he missed an element right in the middle of the periodic table!

I used to tape episodes of Dr. Demento ... greatest radio show ever LOL  I remember this song, even though I'm not exactly an old fart lol I have to say, though, that one of my alltime favorites from him is "I hold your hand in mine" ... talk about a weird kid, huh? [:D]

hejira92 -> RE: For all you masochists (5/17/2009 4:47:21 PM)

I can still sing, just about word-for-word, every song on the That Was The Year That Was album.

Yes, I can do New Math. (you can't take 3 from 2, 2 is less than 3, so you look at the 4 in the tens place. Now that's really four tens, so you make it three tens and you take away one from the tens.....)

Of his earlier stuff, the Boy Scout song, Be Prepared and Fight Fiercely Harvard! are classics!

NightTigress -> RE: For all you masochists (5/18/2009 10:27:14 PM)

That was the first time I have heard that, thank you for introducing  me

BKSir -> RE: For all you masochists (5/18/2009 10:32:38 PM)

LOL, I haven't heard that in ages.  Good times.
