IMO, this is ridiculous!  If a business wants to use a mannequin in a bikini top and shorts to attract customers let them do it.

"Sexy mascot can stay at eatery if curves covered"

"READING, Ohio – A curvaceous, scantily clad mannequin can keep her spot outside a Cincinnati area barbecue joint, but local officials want her to cover up a bit.

The life-size figure stands as a busty beacon outside a restaurant in suburban Reading (REH'-ding) owned by Kenny Tessel. He told zoning officials at a hearing Wednesday night that the advertising gimmick has boosted business 40 percent.

The 5-foot-10 mannequin is on the street wearing a bikini top and tight short-shorts, though Tessel brought her to the hearing draped in a long, sleeveless gray T-shirt.

The board said Tessel may continue to use the figure only if it's dressed more modestly in front of the restaurant, too.

He plans to appeal."

That's all it takes to increase barbecue business 40% in Cincinnati? Hooters restaurants must be a freaking gold mine up there. Oddly, the story doesn't mention what law or zoning regulation he was violating with the mannequin. It's a little tacky but I'd like to know what they busted him for.

Edit: Ok. The mannequin apparently constitutes a sign and he needs a permit for that.

I was wondering how Hooters was doing, too. Sheesh. Buncha humourless, PC prudes.

Maybe the owner should get a LIVE girl to parade up and downin her skimpies outside the store. I bet THJAT would be ok...and draw a crowd [;)]

Reading Ohio is hard pressed for news......[8|]

It's not surprising if you live in Ohio.

Cincinnati is an extremely conservative city.  It was in Cincinnati where pornography charges against Larry Flynt  were first filed.

It was a Cincinnati area group, Citizens for Community Values, that sponsored the drive for Ohio's gay marriage ban.

The same group also tried to push legislation in Ohio to keep strip club dancers six feet away from patrons.

It would be ok if they kept their "community values" in their own community, but they are always pushing them onto the rest of the state.  I'm all for annexing the city to Kentucky, but I don't think they want them either.

Aren't they the same lot who elected Jerry Springer mayor? [:D]

That is the most buxom mannequin I have ever seen. Bar Be makes the stiffs in the Victoria's Secret store look like adolescents.

Yeah, but Jerry was a serious politician at one point.  He ran for Congress and for Governor.  He's got a law degree from Northwestern.  He got caught up in a massage parlor/prostitution scandal that damaged him in politics.

Haha, saw this story on CNN a couple of weeks ago. He hadn't been having any problems with it for several weeks it seemed like, I was wondering when someone would start complaining about it.

DesFIP -> RE: Cover up that mannequin! (5/17/2009 10:59:21 AM)

But if he opened a clothing store next to the restaurant and had those windows filled with bikini wearing mannequins, that would be legal. Or is it illegal to sell and advertise bathing suits there also?

Vendaval -> RE: Cover up that mannequin! (5/17/2009 12:46:39 PM)

Yeah, when Victoria's Secret opened up a downtown store here some of the local citizenry had a big fuss over both the trademark hot pink and gold decor combined with the very enticing and posable mannequins.  So much fuss over so little!
