Well seems the hard work has paid off and things are finally coming to fruit. My short person is going into surgery tomorrow at oh dark 30 (rather 6 am.. but i'm getting up at oh dark 30) i'm absolutely THRILLED. And i was literally bouncing off the walls when i found out it was coming up. Darn Doc's around here want to take forever to do anything. By the time she's healed, will be BEFORE the doc nearby would of even had an exam appt open. Thrilled. Hopefully this surgery will get rid of the hearing problems, the speech delay, the sleep apnea and the night terrors as well as the congestion and not being able to breathe through the nose. Aboslutely thrilled!!

But i'm slightly worried. Though he's a GOOD doctor, past experiences wel i dont like short ppl doctors. No matter how many different docs in how many different cities, they all suck. This one is slightly cool, but ug, i'm nervous. i've talked to speech therapists and teachers and parents and family and friends and its a simple thing. No big deal, i know this. No big deal. But this is MY, yes MINE, short person.

and i'd just like to add a whine........ "what if something goes wroooooooooooong?"

So since i cant ask those i know as they'd all think i was abit nuts. Would those that pray, pray for things to go well? All night vigils and fasting and mass prayers are welcomed too = ) i wont mind abit = ) though i know its simple nothing to it will have her back in my arms before lunch i expect and home tomorrow afterwards...... its still MY short person. MY short person and i'm giving over her safe keeping to some one ELSE. ug. So i suppose pray for the doc too. = )

Excellent. I had my adenoids and tonsils removed and tubes first put in my ears all at once when I was five (had about a dozen ear surgeries after that too for tubes in and out).

I could HEAR again, I could TASTE again, I stopped getting sick every other month.

Slurpees help a lot :)

Been there and done that as well RG...twice in fact. Worried both times only to come out the other end finding it had been a waste to worry. Still doesn't stop us though.

Just remember that calm, cool and collective influences how the little patient feels about it....and a shot of tequilla when every thing is said and done doesn't hurt either. (that is for you, not the little one )

Thanks all. Things went well and she's a trooper. She dealt with it better then i did. LOL as she always does. Did my best to keep her giggling before she went in. She came out of anesthesia crying abit and i was told thats good cos some kids come out screaming. She was a trooper! i'm so proud of her = ) She was done by 9 am and we were able to leave by 1 pm and she (was) ready to take off outside to play. LOL i had to cut her short, stick an icey in her hand (will remember the slurpy thing, thanks) and give her the pain meds the doc told me to give her and naptime is gooood. Sleep is a good remedy. She's about 4 and erm full of energy. (energizer bunny here she comes!)

i'm soooooooooo glad its over! Thrilled she did so well. Still doing well, bit unhappy, but thats to be expected. LOL

Thanks

Oh I'm so glad everything came out fine!
Every time I've had to have my own short person (well, he's taller than me now...)
anyway
every time he had a procedure of some type and they put him to sleep, I freaked out.
every time
and i was always all alone at the hospitals, crying my heart out, no support from his father or any other family members.
the worst part every time was being there when the anesthesia knocked him out...it's NOT like he's going to sleep, it's much worse, and it always scared me to death.
Of course every time he came out fine, and i worried for nothing,
but like you said, when it's YOUR very own little one, ya just can't help it!
anyway,
happy to hear she's well, and that you are too!
huggggs

My son had his tonsils and adenoids removed when he was 5. No problems. It was outpatient. Make sure you have some popsicles and freeze pops in the freezer. The most difficult thing was keeping him semi-still for two days post-op. Good luck.
