In theory I am a switch, but given that for me my practice of BDSM is tied up in my religious beliefs, I can't bottom to a person. (And it's not just the BDSM. I don't have sex with people who aren't pagan, because of that.)

I figure since I have dysmenorrhea and IBS I have plenty of opportunities to bottom to pain, deal with being unable to do what I want to do, and be publically humiliated. (wry grin) I don't need a top to help me with this.

I domme both in and out of the bedroom but for subbing, so far it's been only in the bedroom. Since I'm normally dominant subbing is a very emotional release and more of an act of affection or love. (Not that domming can't be...but it's hard to explain). I've dated people who I've never wanted to sub for at all. It's very selective and I'll only do it with someone who understands and appreciates the gesture.

I *am* a masochist all the time, for fun, but not necessarily in a submissive way. It's just fun...

You are quite right.  The opposite also is true.  You have to have the right mindset for dominance.  I don't have it.  On the other hand, I love the emotional rush I get when I surrender my mind and body to a woman.  I just hope you get as much out of being a Domme as I do in being a submissive/slave.

I agree.  I will sub only to women with whom I've already established a large degree of emotional intimacy and trust.

From my own experience a degree of prior intimacy does make for a great time. I would need to trust anyone I played with, but the intimacy would be a bonus if it was there also.

I love to bottom to certain things - fire, needles, hot wax, thuddy flogging, electrical stuff - with certain people.  I'm more toppy when I bottom than I am when I top.  When I'm topping, I'm looking for a mutually satisfying experience, but when I bottom it's all about me, me, me.  I only play with tops who understand this and are prepared to give me what I want, just the way I want it. 

I don't sub.  I learned about the whole BDSM thing from a fellow I met in a vanilla venue who turned out to be kinky and who wanted a sub.  It was dandy as long as it was all about toppy/bottomy play, but when he tried to get d/s-y about it, telling me he was going to punish me for wearing the wrong color underwear...  I thought that was pretty funny and let him know that it wasn't going to happen, even in play. 

Come to think of it, I do have a Master to whom I submit wholeheartedly and without reservation.  He has one order for me -  that I relax and not lift a finger when I am a guest at his home.  I do everything in my power to obey.  [;)]

There's nothing wrong with your bottom, as far as I can tell! [;)]

I can easily get an endorphin rush from bottoming/masochism, but actually getting into a submissive headspace is impossible with most people. A couple of people have pushed my buttons that way, but I lean more strongly in the Dominant direction. Even there, it depends on the interaction with the other person.
