If you don’t mind, I’ll answer for myself. My defense is toward my individual liberties. I understand that if I wish to travel on an airline, I could be subject to such “security” tactics. I also know how to travel without using an airline, but even if it came down to my never traveling again, I would not feel a need to hide in a bunker. However, I might suggest the same for those who believe there is a need for such measures, in order to feel safe. This discussion reminds me of the one we had over wearing t-shirts to election day. I was glad to see that people, here, on that day, were able to express themselves without anyone going on a rampage. Your reports of the environment where you are, make me that much more apreciative that I grew up here. Why do you keep comparing airports to prisons? Kim

I haven't flown in two years (the longest ever, really), but I must say that I absolutely hate the idea of these scans. I don't care how our 'privacy' is supposedly protected and that our faces and heads are blurred on the scan images. I still think they're absolutely disgusting. Isn't there an alternative anyway? Won't those passengers who refuse to submit to this have the option of getting a goold old-fashioned pat down instead [X(] ? Airport security... what a fucking joke.

I really don't see what the excitement about being on an airplane is. WELCOME TO THE NEW WORLD!! People get better at hiding things so we gotta get better at finding them. Tell you what... don't check anything ...AT ALL.. just let everyone get on a plane. Then People will complain about gates being too loose. Give everyone a Rectal Cavioty Search and run the finger through your hair for EVERY person getting on a plane and people will complain about it being too strict. AMERICA IS FULL OF GOLDIE LOCKS. Too Much too Little too hot too cold too horny too flacid too stupid too smart too controling too puppydog..... The whole body scan isn't for security as much as it was for peace of mind. The Logic wasn't is keeping GUNS OFF a plane it was about keeping BUTTS ON a plane. People were more afraid to fly than ever after 9-11 these machines were used as a way to put the avid flyers mind at ease and get them back on a plane. As for having an opinion and having never flew..... first it isn't X-ray Vision you get a very loose outline of a person but you can make out common shapes and things like boobls and nipples and bulges but that isn't what they are looking for in fact the time in a scanner is so short if you are looking for nipples you may miss the knife blade in the shoe. Anyone getting off on full body scans really just needs to look at a girl walking down venice beach cause you can see more there than you can on a full body scanner. It stops when people stop trying to find ways to fuck the system ..... so basically NEVER. You are a Product of your own Creation. Welcome to the New World ! Steel

I assure you, it's not that different here in the warmer states than it is there; I've been to New England. I'm not comparing prisons to airports; I'm simply saying they are both secure facilities. You do NOT have a right to be in either. Like I said, I haven't flown in quite some while. But I have recently been having to go through security procedures because of my friend's incarceration. I'm not a criminal; do I deserve less rights just because I know someone that is? Is that what you're saying? Why do you not understand that some facilities require extra security precautions? Airports (like prisons) are targets of all sorts of dangerous people. You may not like going through a scanner, but I don't blame the airport officials and airlines for worrying about people sneaking devices on planes that aren't detectable by the usual metal detector/random frisking check.

The stuff you were saying about what elections are like where you live; being frisked to get into bars; drug sniffing dogs at the prison; things like that. My statement wasn’t toward actual location. I get the impression you might live in a more populated area, is all. Where I live, and Boston MA, are both part of New England, the two can’t be compared. You are missing a major point; I do not believe I have rights to anything. Please stop accusing me of such. Are people being scanned before entering the airport, or before boarding a plane? Now I’m confused. Visiting a convicted felon at a prison, and crossing the country for a vacation, are the same to you? What are they smuggling into prisons these days? I thought that was one place most criminals tend to stay away from; no? I am inclined to agree with what Steel had to say on what the airport’s concern was. Though I am wondering who he is giving credit to, for creating a “New World”. Kim

You people are so riduculous. Give up your rights,... well there again...you don't have any rights. Yes, I fly, go through the security, and I find, US carriers are the most severe in their searches. Dogs with Homeland. In the Eurpoean airports, I've made no comments whatsoever to the security, and some, mostly all apologised for the delays or the inconvience and always say...It's because we have to, you are on an American Carrier. You people really should read a historty book or two, namely German History, say starting from 1920, to the present. Back to sleep people, nice dreams.

`fr` I fly a lot, in the United States and in Europe and often get patted down. The main issue I see with this is the time I'd save getting into their little phone booth for 15 seconds as opposed to a pat down in which people are physically touching me for 2 - 4 minutes. This seems like a time saver and if that means I can get to the airport an hour before my flight instead of 2 hours or more, that's 'my' time and as such it's a precious commodity so I'm cool with it.

I did just that, on a flight, returning to the US, the scanning, wands, etc, became riduclous...so at Dallas,...tired, just not caring about anything anymore... I beat Homeland to the punch...I unzipped my carryon, started pulling everything out, and the guards..."Whoa, Whoa," I told them, I demand a full fledged search, I raised my hands up, and in a loud voice said...I demand the wand, I unbuckled my belt, unzipped my trouser, ....I demand a Full cavity body search.....(now there was this drop dead beautiful black female Homeland security guard there)...but, I want her to do it...(in my most god awful Arnold Austrian voice)...Yes, she must do it. This is TRUE. Now, on the serious side, every encounter with HomeLand security, doing their thing, every encounter with the black uniformed 'Inquistitor' at his/her podium, became more rude and intense....you had BETTER display a severe serious attitude, thankful attitude that YOU ARE ALLOWED to return to the USofA. Yes, Dogs, sniffing your ass, welcome to the United States. The creation of this intense security was, as pointed out, to get frequent flyers asses back on the bookings, after 9-11. That incident almost destroyed air travel revenues.....and it was the ideal situation, excuse, to create even more erosion of civil liberties. Far reaching into any freedoms you may still have left. If you are visiting a prison, yes of course you submit to the security, that's why it's called a prison.
