TPEsadist -> Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 3:21:00 PM)

I know that a lot people on here are sincere but the few fakes ruin it for all. I now start all responses with "I will pay for relocation if you live within the USA and I will come to your area to meet and bring you back with me." Also those with fuzzy pictures seems to be a fake. It sure stops the Ghana with USA address. Any other suggestions to help with this problem.

Be honest, ask for a phone number to call or give them yours to call you.

RedMagic1 -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 3:25:22 PM)

I'm having a great time on this site!  I've made a lot of real-time friends, I've dated several women, and I've learned quite a bit.  So the fakes certainly aren't ruining things for me.

My "secret": I spend no time or energy on scammer profiles.  As a result, I can spend all my email time and energy on people who are actively looking to meet someone.  You might want to try that yourself.

EmelineRose -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 3:28:00 PM)

Definitely hear their voice to confirm they are the gender they claim.  Many, many are masquerading as the opposite sex.  They often also lie about their age and use fake photos - if they look like a model's photos or very professional, there's a good chance they have stolen them.

Biggest lie of all - marital status.  If you're both interested in each other after a certain period of time when trust has begun to grow and they won't give you a LANDLINE number you can ring any time (within reason) you can almost guarantee they are cheating on a partner.  A cam is even better.

Oh and I don't think there are "a few fakes".  In my years of experience online I've decided MOST of them are fakes. There's maybe 10% of people who are honest and genuine - but it's worth looking for the diamonds amongst all the liars, cheats and pretenders as there are some really good people to find online as well.

Good luck.

littlewonder -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 3:32:02 PM)

Why not just ignore the ones you don't feel compatible with for whatever reasons you wanna give and just move onto the next one?

Seems like the easiest solution to me.

Lockit -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 3:33:19 PM)

Shit... I've been exposed!  I often have fuzzy pictures... well I have to cover up the haggy face somehow!  Money to relocate before you know them?  So glad I covered up my haggy face with fuzzy cause that is scary.  But yes... I am fake.  My mom said... if mother nature didn't give it to you, buy it... so... I came to CM to find someone to pay for it all... because at this fake age... I am going to need a lot! Unless some fake dom wants to help me out here...

DemonKia -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 3:39:46 PM)

FR, after read thru

LOL

I'd suggest taking your own advice, OP (from your profile):

"Also if any of this profile offends you then don't read it and keep your remarks to yourself."

If stuff offends you, move on, & keep your whining & whinging to yourself . . . . .

I personally find that staying in a 'positive' space, especially in the writing in one's profile, is far more productive than the negative stuff . . . . . . A large number of the poster's to these forums have excellent profile texts which display what they want, rather than dwelling on what they don't want . . . .. ..

I haven't had a landline in oooooh, maybe 5 years. Who needs one anymore?

"In fact, a new study from the CDC says 20% of U.S. homes have cut the landline and are now cell only. That's compared to just 17% of homes that only have a landline."

What works for me is spraying profile picsw with weed killer and seeing what happens. If they keel over then i tend to think 'fake', if not then they are obviously 'twue'.

stella41b -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 4:52:39 PM)

is this the real life?
Or is this just Collarme?
Popular with Africans
No escape from these fakes you see
I open my eyes
I read my replies and see
I'm just a poor dom
Seeking a sub you see
Because I'm just a dom, this I know
Cmails come, cmails go
And these fakes from Africa
Keep on writing to me
To me

People, just found a fake
And this made me so mad
Thought I'd start a brand new thread
People, I'd just logged on
But now I've gone and found another fake

People, ooooooh
I just want to cry
If I haven't logged on again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on
As if this thread was never started

Too late
Another cmail has come
From Nigeria this time
And I ain't got a goddamned dime
Goodbye everybody
I've got to go
Heading off to F**tlife
Where people are true

People
I just want a sub
I sometimes wish
I never became a dom at all

I see a cmail and I think it is a scam
Scaramouche, Scaramouche
Will you get my flight and visa
It seems like the right thing
Very very frightening me
Bumaweyo, bumaweyo
Bumaweyo, bumaweyo
Bumaweyo in Congo (and Chad too)

I'm just a poor dom, nobody loves me
He's just a poor dom with a profile on Collarme
Spare him his life from fakes across the sea
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go
Katanga no, we will not let you go
Let him go
Katanga no, we will not let you go,
Let him go
Katanga no, we will not let you go
Let him go
Will not let you go
Let him go
Will not let you go
Let him go...
No no no no no no no no
Oh all you scammers all you scammers
Oh all you scammers let me go
I'm sure there's a sub
Is in Idaho waiting on the side for me
For me, for me

So you think you can scam me and tell me your lies
So you think you can be a fake I won't recognize
Oh baby, can't do this to me baby
Just got to start a thread, just got to write it out here

There's too many scammers
Harrassing doms like me
There's too many scammers
Harrassing all the doms on Collarme

they do have artifical grass that wont let the weeds pop up. so perhaps we need artificial D-types and s-types to keep the fakes out...[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m28.gif[/image]

The reason there are so many fakes here is because RedMagic stole all the real ones for himself.  [:o]  [sm=angry.gif]  [sm=sigh.gif]

ROFL!

Andalusite -> RE: Weeding out the fakes (5/20/2009 6:58:29 PM)

Most of them are pretty obvious and easy to screen out. Putting all that negativity in your profile isn't going to attract anyone who is real, or discourage any of the fakes.

Your glass is half empty!
I wonder why you would let ‘a few’ unpleasant interactions on line affect you so deeply.  If you are in a good mood, would you let a grouchy person ruin your day?  I would hope not!

My suggestion would be that you change your way of thinking and remove the word ‘fake’ from your vocabulary.  Speaking for myself, I’ve never encountered a ‘fake’.  I’ve had a number of emails from folks who didn’t catch my interest or were not compatible.  Some messages were offensive, some just plain stupid and some were so awful I had to laugh.  But I believe real people wrote them; they just happen to be people I don’t ever want to meet.

Actually that to Me screams fake, its pretty assumptive.

You guys are completely missing the point....what the frig is the Center for Disease Control doing monitoring landline statistics? No wonder swine flu went from 'never heard of it' to 'public enemy number one world pandemic' in like 17 hours.
