Right before President Obama gives his speech on fighting the war on terror, or whatever we are calling it these days. Funny how these things time out, sometimes.

Time for another batch of his base to go under the bus, and time for the true believers to start telling us domestic surveillance is goo-oood instead of baa-aaad.

Stewart? These morons live in Newburgh and they want to blow up airplanes there. Scary considering how many people I know who are stationed there.

Sad that it was the third time in ten years someone's targeted the same synagogue. We've only had one episode of vandalism in that time at mine.

All I can say is Im out of NYC for good.
It seem to be a main target area.
I was there a month and if I recall they arrested another one early last month.

But dont quote me since My memory SUCKS.

President Obama stated many times before the election that the 'illegal wiretapping' done by homeland security would end if he were to be elected President. This is the reason he did the right thing and kept this vital part of our Countries security intact. To those out there that think there is no threat from terrorists on our soil, you should all pay attention to stories like this...

Maybe you should pay more attention to the facts of the stories like this.

These were domestic terrorists not supported by any foreign organization, according to the story.

The wiretapping issue never included domestic communications, only select international calls.

So where is the link between that issue and these arrests?

They are used for calls going out of and into this country. All I am saying is they are still being used for a reason, and I am glad that President Obama has continued with the practise.

Now correct me if I am wrong... I thought we have always been able to tap calls...but you needed a judge to issue a warrant. Bush and his executive order bypassed the warrant.

Now do you know whether a warrant was obtained in this case or not? It may have been perfectly legal and nothing to do with Bush and his tactics

There is no need to question anything... That is for the trial...judge and or jury...we are not privy to the evidence. Or are you implying that it is all a set up for political purposes...you know the US police state... and we should always questions that actions of people in black SUV's.

We have been discussing the alleged case and its consequences...not the absolute guilt.

Homeland security can wiretap anyone at anytime. A warrent has to be obtained from a Federal judge, but it can be done after the fact. To have to wait for a warrent on an on- going call would be useless.

Not at all... remember they had them under surveillance for a long time... They could and I'll bet did get a warrant before the fact...as it should be done.

Now I don't know for sure but neither do you... so how can you say Obama used Bush's tactics?

This case has been developing since mid 2008, if anyone reads the story. So far there have been no connections between this group and any other terrorist organizations. They were not well funded or very sophisticated. They contacted a Federal Informant inquiring into getting bombs and stinger missiles. If this is how it started, then I doubt there is was any problem in getting warrants. Again I point out that it started with a federal Informant going to the FBI, not from wire tapping.

Also, there are many what ifs that this story can be played out with. None should justify any of the past activities of the previous administration. It should underscore our need to remain vigilant of these kinds of attacks happening on our own soil.

As to the guilt, that is for a jury to decide. Basing our theoretical discussion on them being guilty is just adding a premise to this theoretical discussion, it is not condemning them.

I agree I was just pointing out the mistake of claiming Obama was following in Bush's footsteps without knowing the facts of the case
