If by "where is the trust, mutual respect and compromise", you mean "where is the male dominance", I think you'll find it in male dominant and vanilla relationships.  Or, if we want to be super politically correct, if what you're looking for is trading of roles, you'll find it in relationships where the partners switch.

I'm not going to get into the weird condemnation of male submission in your post, because I see it every day in the vanilla world and I'm already sick of it.  A man who likes both pussy and being whipped is wise to seek both in his relationships.  If you do not like pussy and you do not like being whipped, perhaps female dominance is not your cup o' tea.

Status: offline 		jester, preconceived ideas have a way of limiting our view of how or why something is and we tend to use our understanding or lack thereof, of someone different and how they function in life.  You cannot understand because you have preconceived idea's that may lable people, activities and such and then you evaluate them on your view of things.  You've closed your mind to these things because you have summed them up and unless you can open your mind to things being different than you see them, you won't ever understand them.

If you really want to understand something or someone, you must have a willingness to learn about them.  If you cannot let go of your take on things where people are different and must find fault with them or what they are involved in or why they do what they do, you aren't in a listening and learning place... but more seeking to find a way to validate how you think and feel about it by proving it is what you think and feel it is.

You say you have some interest in the lifestyle.  What is that interest?  This can be a personal struggle for some and that is understandable to a point.  If you are willing to see something different than what you see, then you may find some understanding, but if you aren't willing to give up preconceived idea's you will never understand.

When you see yourself as different than those involved in the lifestyle you see and you feel there is something better about your way than their way because there must be something wrong with them, you will never see them, never understand them and maybe because you have an interest in it besides your opinion of it all, you may not be able to find peace within yourself as well.

I have never disrespected a man I was with.  I expect a man to be strong, decent and do not want a personality-less person who doesn't get respect.  The relationship must be based on knowing a person, trust between them and respect.  There are those dominant's and submissive's that go the worthless worm bit and if you will read my journal at different times you will see that I have no respect for these types of situations in my own life.  They can have what they want, but I do not want that!  We are all different.  We can't all be lumped up together.

I would have to ask you... first and foremost... what is your interest or draw to things?  If you feel the way you do... why are you interested?

If I thought you really wanted to know, and weren’t just trying to bait the dommes, I would say…

First, there are men who submit to men, willingly.  And women who submit to men, women who submit to women…do you have a problem with any of that, and where their identity is going, or is it just a pussy-whipped man thing with which you have a problem?

Second, when you ask, ‘where’s the fairness, the trust, the mutual respect, the compromise’ you seem to think that people in more extreme or fulltime D/s relationships aren’t there willingly.  They are longing for someone who understands them and wants them on those terms.  If you were really interested in knowing what fuels their desire for that relationship, I’d suggest you go to the “Ask a Submissive” section of the forum.  But it is difficult to explain passion.  Some things don’t want to be explained, about us.

And third, for many of us, it’s all about trust and intimacy, largely because it’s not about “fairness” (in the conventional sense of the word) at all.  The submissive and the dominant are trusting each other to understand and accept each other, each other’s drives and desires, in the context of a relationship that seems hostile and unfair and maybe abusive, to outsiders. 

When I see someone talking about the dominant being fair, I think, they don’t get something that I would need them to get.  What’s fair about me doing what I want to do, and you doing what I want to do?  What’s fair about you being on a leash, or asking permission, or…you know.

I always say, what’s fair about it?  Fair warning, maybe.
