YourhandMyAss -> holy shit that bite break out was fast (5/22/2009 10:31:43 AM)

I put a night gown down on my chair so I wouldn't have my bare ass on plastic,* I sit at the pc naked* and in minutes I started itching and when I jumped up to get out of the chair I had moskito  bite like welts all over my ass my hips and going down my legs. They itch like a mother fucker and they came up suddenly. Hopefully it's a one time occurance,  cause I wouldn't be happy to be broke out like this regularly.

I think I break out in hive like itchy welts if I eat too many strawberries or watermelon, both of which I love. But also here in Florida, they got these little bugs that seem to nibble and cause bumps and such, really annoying critters they are.

So I never know if it's a bug biting me, bugs biting me, or just too much damn fruit eaten, since the bumps seem to occur when strawberries are in season, and also when watermelons are in season.

It's either tiny bugs or too much fruit...

yep...your best bet, after you take a cool shower (it will remove any possible allergen and reduce the itching).
Benadryl comes in two forms, oral (pill or liquid) or a topical cream. Oral Benadryl can make you a wee bit sleepy.

Vegetable oil mixed with malt vinegar helps... just rub it all over yourself.

Boy let me tell you one time when I broke out in hives for no obvious reason and had to take two oral  I was out like a light, and then the rest of the day felt like shit, and I felt like someone had ran me down with a steam roller.

I'll take it orally if I need to in the future, but I like the squeezy bottle of gel better.   He  put a good dose on my butt and my thighs before leaving for work and it took like 20 minutes but they stoped hurting.

there's a difference between itching and biting.

if you started with itching and are now hurting, i'd probably get to a dr. in the next day or two, to make sure nothing serious is going on.

but hey then, that's just me.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: holy shit that bite break out was fast (5/22/2009 2:00:57 PM)

pure, for me when it itches real bad it kinda hurts too, it's like the skin gets really sensitive and bothers me doubly.

CatdeMedici -> RE: holy shit that bite break out was fast (5/22/2009 2:14:40 PM)

That's an allergic reaction called hives...

Based on the OP's initial description of the problem, it's quite possible that you have fleas in the house. I don't know if you have pets or not, but even if you don't, fleas can lie dormant in carpeting and other areas for up to three years. I have had similar problems in the past. Fleas will leave bite marks exactly as you describe. If that is the problem, they are relatively easy to get rid of. Visit a vet, most will be able to sell you "bug bombs", which are fogging canisters. You will need to evacuate the house for a couple hours and, a minor inconvenience afterward of having to wash all your dishes.

we buy benadryl in bulk around here.  my youngest is a bug magnet, mosquitos love him.  i asked the doc if there was anything i could do to make him less edible but he said it's a body chemistry thing.  might change as he goes through puberty, might not.  we can all be outside for a day and the rest of us get one or two, he gets tons!  bug repellant doesn't seem to help much with him.  one of my brothers was like that, but he was highly allergic to mosquito bites, he'd swell up like crazy.

FR~  The benadryl SPRAY is awesome---it does leave a tacky residue, but it's amazingly effective, more so than the cream, I find.

Flea bites, in my experince of getting them tend to be little red bumps, and these look like mistiko welts. and with in minutes my entire butt,  was welted and swollen. fortunatly they're all gone by now, and before summer comes we'll bug bomb because we have no screen doors and leave our doors open 24/7 and flying bugs love that.
