Consider the "do not remove" tag on mattresses and pillows.   That is there for this reason.  Used rags were used in the filling.  Prior to that straw and other such components in a mattress.   Even bed and breakfasts MUST redo the sheets.

Your topic is timely.   Consider, the Chinese beetle manifestation, Lyme disease, west Nile.
The weak effectiveness of antibiotics.   The e-colie outbreaks- which can be found on airline and waiting room seats.
Consider the deadly plague in the 1400s.  The cause? Fleas that were on rats!   Food supplies drew the rats.   Cities have garbage laws also.

As we enter hard times- no doubt there will be more short cuts in life.  In my lifetime I had not experienced this. It sounds worse then crabs.

I plan to rethink my household.   As you know everything I have is 2nd hand.

One task- I will do is to throw out something EVERY day.

I bought 6 nice t-shirts- at a thrift store- the bill,  3 for a dollar- no tax.

But I need to get in gear here.  I spent a whole day pulling weeds- sweeping- I note alot of ants outside.  The sand from the old pool seems to attract them.  Flies drive me crazy.
