Status: offline 		I guess my question is really related to the marks left from spanking. When getting multiple spankings, does the order in which implements are used have any effect on the severity or kinds of marks left behind? Purely from my imagination, I would think that if one's bottom was already warmed up with a bare hand, or some broad object like a large paddle, that a smaller and snappier item, like a thinner paddle or a crop, would be more likely to leave more severe marks. But since I don't have enough experience to compare, I thought I would ask what others have observed.

Status: offline 		It depends more on how hard they are used versus what you use.

However, if you use every toy with exactly the same amount of force, the smaller the impact area, the more force will be directed onto the smaller area of your body, thus more likely to cause pressure/marks.

Status: offline 		I don't think so. My local BDSM group had a Caning demo at our last meeting by a really experienced woman who loves canes and uses them with a passion! The variety of canes there was amazing!

Anyway,

It seemed to me that the demo bottom had marks whenever the cane was used with force, rather than the size of the cane.

i can certainly check with Master in the morning, but i do believe marks are related to force used, not necessarily the order in which the toys are used.

The other thing i can say with certainty is that i feel the sting more if i've already been "warmed up" with a good spanking before the paddle or cane etc are applied. Then again, as Master takes me deeper into sub-space the pain becomes pleasure anyway.

Status: offline 		The cane seems to leave the most marks and the sensitivity seems to stay longer, when similar force is used. The one exception is my rubber hose (3/4" thick), which doesnt leave as many marks, but seems to hurt for a longer time. The floggers and crop have a different role, but are usually part of the middle warm up, while slappers and brushes are used as preliminary warm up.

As someone who has never experienced subspace, hearing you say that you feel the sting more only makes me nervous *L*

I'm sure there's something to the order- but more importantly is how warmed up the person is and how much force the implement is used with.

Its both.

If I prefer to have striking lines under say a circle or heart shape cut into an impliment I first use the cane over the embrossed paddle.
its not just the force but the order and lenth of time the underskin has begun its healing process as to whats showing up primary and higher and not, if the use brings a desired reddened area, welt or bruse or cut or not.

I have found that a long deliberate warm up, usually by hand (or leather paddle) is the best way to start, if you want someone to take a long spanking. It is not unusual for a spanking to last for a few hours with me. A slow warm up, tends to offer staying power, and implements thereafter are more decided by the person I'm spanking (or more appropriately by their bottom ), in that each person is different, and their tolerance level will differ as well.

I feel that all implements are capable of leaving marks, and if someone is interested in marks, then it takes time to find what works for them, and could be fun, for the spanker that likes marks. I wouldn't be that Top, as I've never like marking. Even with a warm up, I've found long handled brushes and canes to leave an impression. A spoon, paddle or brush with a long handle offers a small target with great force, and can cause a bruise the size of the implement. Canes can leave nice stripes, but I like them to leave after a few hours. They can last longer, in the right hand, with the right bottom...er, target.

I prefer to provide the long warm up...no marks, but a long lasting glow and perhaps a warmth and shade of red that lasts for days.

Status: offline 		A lot of how marks show up too are affected by how easily you mark. I don't mark easily. After my first flogging, lasting approx an hour, the only "marks" I could see per se ended up being aggravated strech marks, I guess due to the different qualities of such skin. (15 tailed simple suede flogger) They lasted perhaps three days.

The next few shorter sessions: No marks. (multi-tailed string ones, 4 tailed leather thing, the 15 tailed flogger, a rubber string flogger. Lately added: Naval cat of nine tails and for those who can read this with a sense of humor: a stuffed wolf tail and a spider beanie baby)

Finally, last night, and due to the force applied and length of session (greater than 2 hours) vs. implement used, I've been left with marks. (Naval cat of nine tails, four tailed leather thing) Most of these again are aggravated strech marks, but there are bruises and red specks from the knots on the four tailed. The cat I believe drove these deeper than they were put intially. Apparantly, a friend who saw the experience over webcam mentioned to me that he was putting his body weight into the strike with the cat of nine.

And yes I also Top, so he has had his fair share as well, although I've yet to leave a lasting impression on his back. This is soon to change however.
