Status: offline 		Hi there. Searching profiles, and other threads here and there, I'm curious if any Dommes are into fashion? I don't mean fetish fashion, but do you spend some of your spare time on tfs or the purse forum etc? I have a few clothing fetishes myself, but above that, I do have an interest in high end ladies fashion as a hobby. Not really into it for the models either, I just like to follow the changing styles and trends. How about you, do you care at all? Curious to what the answers might be from our Dommes. Thanks in advance. *smiles*

Status: offline 		Yep...I don't always "follow" fashion personally but I do love looking at http://lookbook.nu/ , fashion photography, etc. My vanillawear ranges from American Apparel to girlyness. Also, you'd be surprised at how often high fashion crosses over into bdsm-type wear. lol.

Status: offline 		I love high fashion, have since my youth. Don't wear it*, but I really treasure looking at the extreme fashion stuff, like Galliano's couture shows. I see it as wearable art. I generally have to buy at least one Vogue magazine a year & look at all the pretty pictures, mmmmmmmm. I like Vogue's online site (style.com), too, partly cuz of the ability to register an account & keep a lookbook of favorite pics:

*While I do dress up nicely my preferred mode is something I like to reference as somewhere between 'California casual / Hugh Hefner' & Bermuda-shorted-Hawaiin-shirted-tourist style, lol . . . . .

Status: offline 		Yes, part of it is due to having been involved with fashion in my previous career, I enjoy fashion and follow it but don't always adapt everything that's fashionable, due to not everything suiting me. I tend to wear what suits me, never stray far from my basic black and adapt the styles that look good on me. In short, no matter how fashionable dungarees and harem pants will be, you won't catch me in them.

I spent enough time behind the scenes of the high fashion world. It really does nothing for me anymore.

Actually I am happy to live without the drama that the fashion world seems to thrive on, but really GREAT fashion is an art form that I enjoy, I look at it like I look at paintings or great photographs, I might not like to surround myself with certain artworks and they might not be to my liking, but I can recognize the creativity and the talent the creation required.

Take early Givenchy, Balmain, Schiaparelli and a couple of others, I think they created art and not fashion. With a lot of modern designers I don't get the fascination, the structuring of a piece of work, the craft, an instantly recognizable look, etc. With most of the celebs now claiming to be designers, I just wretch, it's too much bubble gum for my liking without any staying power or the ability to create a classic.

Status: offline 		Wish I was better at posting links, but I subscribe to Who What Wear and CultIndie.  Both are excellent and I highly recommend them if you love fashion.  I wouldn't/couldn't wear or afford everything they feature, but they are oh-so-interesting.

Status: offline 		I enjoy fashion as a creative expression and also as an expression of the spirit of the times (Zeitgeist).  My own sense of style doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what's trendy now but I do relate to clothing as costuming and art.  :>

Thank you for mentioning lookbook.nu. I do look on there now and again, although some of the posters are quite young. While it is fashion, and not fetish or kink, I am amazed at how "fashionable" some teens dress. I honestly don't think I could handle raising teen daughters in this society lol.

And you are right about high fashion crossing into kink. I just happen to own a Versace belt from the bondage era *winks*.

Style.com is a great site. Another one is bwgreyscale.com...that site more or less if for following certain models, but there is so much posted you can pick out what you want. Also, I happen to live where my cable gets CBC (Canada) and they rerun their half hour Fashion File every night at midnight (I'm too cheap and poor to spring for the Style channel here in the states).

There is nothing wrong with basic black. In fact, if I don't watch it I wind up always there, especially with shirts. I'm into rigid denim so my pants are usually not black...unless of course the leather pants make an appearance.
