...winters heat bill thru me for a loop.   I should be caught up by now. I am not behind yet on utilities- but I just got the heat bill reasonable and now the water bill is here!!!    I await my property tax rebate check- which they screw up every year- because they think I am my dad- who has been dead nearly 25 years.

I am glad I don't have to go to the Laundromat any more as that added up.

I wished I had gotten serious earlier!!!

The bills I cut out- I could have dropped sooner.  Live and learn I guess.

Hmmmm... so, uh.... which drawer is your sock drawer, and, mmm.... when's the next time you're planning on leaving the house?

Just curious...

So far, so good.  They're good enough that we can spend more than we should, and feel stupid for it later, but not be hurt by it too much outside of a day or two of annoyances right before payday.

I am starting to stablize again. Today first day since April 4th, i took a whole day off. Put in a lot of hours and spend little. Got my estimated taxes ready for June, getting money slowly saved for my daughter's Wedding in Oct and paying my debts, plus still saving in my account. It is slow, but am moving forward all by myself. Big dream of mine and i am doing it step by step.

Hey thanks about mentioning quarters, i need to get some for laundry.

Finances aren't bad, considering that we're still paying for my daughter's 12 days in the ICU after the incident in December. She was finally able to go back to work part-time after 4 months, but having her living at home and covering all her expenses while she tries to get back on her feet means that things are tighter than I wish they would be at this point in my life.

However, I carefully manage my spending, and meticulously evaluate where and how the money is distributed, so even though I'd like to have more disposable income, we're still on target to smoothly get 3 more kids through school (stepdaughter, daughter, and youngest son) and continue to adequately invest in the 3 businesses we're growing (for the curious: my oldest son's steampunk jewelry business, my daughter's tattoo and piercing business, and my investment in marketing for the books I write).

Also fortunately, I seem to have survived at least the first round of layoffs at my company, for which I am inestimably grateful.

Dame Calla

FR, after read thru

I'll tell ya the same thing I told my offspring when they were unhappy with how poor I choose to live: some billion or so people on this planet live in dirt-floored housing with no electricity or plumbing. In those households, the whole family has one outfit of clothes per person, & the 'breadwinner' has the only pair of shoes. Those households have a bare handful of furniture, & their dream 'car' is a bicycle. Meat once a week is a luxury, & the big bag of grain & the big bag of beans are the 'refrigerator' & food cupboards . . . . . .

By comparison, we're rich beyond the most avaricious dreams of Louis the 14th, lol . . .. ..

I was doing okay until hit with a 900.00 bill for 4 urine drug screen tests! I am so (pun intended) pissed off about it.
Plus an emergency flight down to Florida this weekend.
Plus auto insurance.
Plus that whole first/last month rent thingie for my new apartment.

Hmmm maybe I'm not doing so okay. Ah well. I'm better off than some, less better off than others. I'm okay even if my finances aren't.

Thanks, Popeye. The offspring whined about it something fierce, for a while . . . . . . & now that they're of adult ages, they appreciate the lesson, lol . . . . . . . . .

Oh, & happy side note: when I started that rant at the offspring it was more like 'half the planet's population blah blah blah . . . ' -- we've been making great strides in reducing global poverty. Lots of work still to go . . . . .

The ranch life is doing well. I took ownership of my parent's 65,000 acre ranch up in Wyoming in Jan and I we have been doing incredibly well. Our industry isn't getting hit as hard as others because people still eat beef! I have no student loans to pay off, our land is 100% owned and my only expenses are operating expenses so I have a good flow of money going into my Roth IRA right now. We are looking at acquiring another 25,000 acres of a nearby ranch because they are moving to New Zealand.

Hopefully this summer is as good as the first 4 months of the year were. And we are getting AMAZING deals on Duramax work pickups with this economy. (Picked a 2008 Duramax up for 20K which is over half off)

How are my finances, well, they are ok, I live within my means and I long since came to the stage in my life where the latest bauble on offer is just yet another waste of money. I don't follow fashion and have no weaknesses for the consumerist lifestyle, so I am doing ok. Debts I do have, but they are in hand, payments which are easily affordable are being made, so no worries. The biggest thing I ever did though that has had such a positive effect, is to ditch credit, deal only with what I have, if I don't have the cash, I can't have the product simple as that. An effective method I have adopted when seeking things to buy, is to locate an item, research the price, find the cheapest on offer, then wait a couple of weeks and then check the mood, if the item is still wanted, from the cheapest outlet I will buy, but if the mood is I have lost interest, then the item was nothing more than a distraction and there a waste of money.

I could never figure out the appeal of credit cards

it's paying money for less money

Might as well get friendly with your local booky
if you can't make the payments, you could always disappear and your credit score wouldn't get hurt at all lol

It's a must for renting cars and buying airline tickets online.

Mine are good.

NO house payment; no car payment; utilities are low...the teenager and I don't use alot; in ten years the trust set up by her father has grown...I can't complain.

Of course, alot of that is the fact that I don't have credit cards; I don't use loans ( if I can't pay cash, we don't need it )...and my work pays dayum well

My finances are pretty borderline...I pay my rent and my bills and buy food, but have damned little left after that...I haven't been to see a movie in roughly a year
