Who hates the term 'gays' I dont mind gay but when people say the gays it really bugs me, like would people ever say the straights? Im sure its from telly or something that some ignorant character used it and thats why it winds me up. Oh I am probably the only person to get annoyed about such trivial things mwhaha

I prefer it to queer. I know that "queer" is being used by many in the gay community as a movement to take back the word and make it positive. And I should clarify, in the gay community of the city I live in, as I have not polled all of the other cities. While I understand the lables, I don't really like any of them. Gay, Bi, Straight. The only use I see for them is to describe which gender you would perfer an intimate relationship with, and frankly I do not need to know. If people could just say, and have accepted the words, "No thank you, I am not interested," a whole lot of problems could be solved.

Oh I am probably the only person to get annoyed about such trivial things mwhaha Here's how I see this colouredin: If I am wrong I know I will be corrected though the term gay being used in reference to homosexual males is because it's a more politically correct label to use instead of fag or faggot. For the majority of gay males, being called fag or faggot is derogatory and an offensive label plus the fact that in many countries in Europe and/or Asia fag has a totally different meaning. It is primarily among the younger generation who laod claim to the term queer as a label of self empowerment much in the same manner that many blacks took back the term nigger as a label of empowerment intead of being derogatory. Personally I prefer being called gay instead of fag or queer. For the most part this is a personal preference and choice with the individual person. Much in the same manner that a lesbian accepts being called a lesbian. For the most part, being called gay or lesbian is mainly a non offensive and neutral label that isn't offensive.
