Blackmail scams

Ok, so I've been talking to a few people on here and apparently there's some fake profiles (shock horror.)  But aparently some of these people are tricking others onto their webcams and then recording it while they do humiliating acts.  They they claim that if the person doesn't pay up that they will post it on the internet.  Has anyone else heard of this?  And if so, what do you think the chances of it actually being true are?

Any thing is possible. There is a lot of scum trolling about the internet here and everywhere. That said, if your stupid enough to get naked on someones cam, then I am not sure I am going to feel real pity when it gets posted all over the internet. Using common sense is very important on the web.

Yeah, I've heard of it... mostly from women who have said, "Some dude wanted to jerk off on a webcam and then have me blackmail him for it.  I told him no way.  I mean WTF!!!"

I have noticed that female profiles that mention tribute sometimes mention blackmail as a fetish.  As far as I can tell, "consensual blackmail" is fairly common, while real blackmail is not -- much as "consensual rape" of men by women is fairly common, while actual rape of men by women is not.
