i havent' posted much on the boards, but my cousin is missing, presumed dead, and i thought maybe the more prayers and hopeful thoughts even from strangers... well.

he went canoeing with friends Sunday, 4 young men in a 3 man canoe with no life jackets...
2 made it to shore and called for help.
my cousin and his other friend have yet be found, alive or dead.

Anyway, thanks folks.

I shall keep my fingers crossed. How horrible for your family to have to just sit and wait.

Sounds bad. I hope he survives. If not, may the God of the Dead reward him according to his merits.

You have our best wishes and that is why they are called 'life' jackets.

I know, re: life jackets i'm sure if he is found his friends and family will yell at him for lack of common sense.
The search continues, had an email from the family, they've been using helicoptors with heat seeking infrared, jet boats, ground search crew, and divers. The canoe hasn't even been found yet.

Tomorrow is his 21st birthday.

they've widened the search area and changed the investigation to "recovery" instead of "rescue"

" RCMP have scaled back the search for two missing canoeists. They went missing after their canoe sunk on Sunday night. Two others made it to shore. The command centre at the Snye has been taken down. The full search went for three days with no results. Search and Rescue plans to do periodic searches of the area now."

Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts.

my cousin was found yesterday. Thank you again for all your well wishes, at least there is now closure for his family knowing there is no more "hope".... and they can bury him in peace.

You have my sentiments; I'm sorry to hear that your cousin didn't make it.  We had a father and daughter tip their boat over in the Ouachita River a few weeks ago.  Luckily a guy was fishing on shore and managed to save the daughter.  The father drowned sadly.  Life is short, you never know what's going to happen from day to day.  God bless you and your family.
