Your forefathers did not pledge allegiance to the country to which they asked to be a citizen of, they even did not ask but took it all buthering whomever stood in their way.

You can move to the Netherlands without being required to even have the knowledge we have several languages, you are only required to speak Dutch if you want to be naturalized.

so much for the so-called fluency, then, huh?  lol

When I was considering moving to the Netherlands, part of their requirement was that you be able to answer questions in Dutch... AND that you be able to have a spontaneous conversation in Dutch.

Does that mean two of you would be speaking "Double Dutch"

One could say you speak Double Dutch since the Dutch occupied parts of what is now the UK and a lot of English comes from Dutch and you deformed many of our words.

The "English" spoken in the USA, is not the same as the English spoken in England, (or spelt, for that matter) it comes in different regional dialects and of course that is an issue compounded by slang, just like the English spoken elsewhere.

I can understand most English dialects spoken on these islands and a lot of US English dialect too these days.

It is impossible to become fully fluent in English (anyone that lives there can't dispute that), even the "Queen" has people to help her with what's supposed to be "her" language (when she's out posing and wasting our money.)

Mind you, with the close "financial" ([sm=evil.gif]) relationship going on with the US these days, perhaps it WOULD be better if you all started learning Chinese? (then there'd be at least a few able to negociate for less crippling interest charges when they put them up)
