Oh man, I just bought a crop off the internet for my dom for valintines day. I'm so nervious and excited about it. This is the first toy I've ever bought specifically for BDSM play and I'm feeling such a rush or excitement and fear as I wait for it to come in the mail. Did anyone else get this way when they bought their first equipment or toy?

How many times have I typed the response to you?

Anytime you ask a question "Does anyone else...?" The answer is always YES.

The thrill of newness is very good and very common. Enjoy.

Are you going to use it yourself first?

A fork can be quite intense. What matters is how/where you use it, not the toy itself. Over time you will develop connections to your toys- memories, emotions, and more.

LA,

Your response made smile, but I think the real question was about hearing/reading other individuals feelings over buying their first toy. I know that it was not worded that way. I believe that the OP is looking for validation of her feelings through knowing that others have had similiar experiances. However I am sure that you have already realized all of this. BTW Happy (possibly belated) Birthday. And also, LA, do you mind if I use that response from time to time with my clients. It really was great.

SE

Congrats! Although I am curious as to why you ordered online instead of going to a tack store? I do not remember the first toy I ever bought. I do however, still have the two given to me by my first Dom.

By all means, check it out, play with it, see how it works, look at the different things that can happen with force of swing.

Remember, this is supposed to be a fun new thing for you, not a penalty. Have a great time. I do recommend checking out a tack store however. There are some fun things there.

Best,

LaMalinche

I guess I never really thought about my first toy :) I see pervables everywhere and have been riding for a number of years. Before I realized I was a full fledged Domme I had more than one pack of drooling boys following me around because I forgot to take a crop or dressage whip out of my riding boot and was walking around somewhere with it.
Crops are fun...have a ball. Just an FYI if you want cheap quirts and whips check your local tack store or statelinetack.com the same whips are less than a third of the price.

Definitely! The same crop you'll pay $15 - $20 for online or at an adult shop, you can pick up at a tack store for $5. And vet wrap makes for some great (and colorful!) mummification.

Well done on your first toy.
I too had many thrills and misgivings simultaneously, when we aquired ours, which was a long chain. I am deeply attatched to that chain to this day. Like LA said, they aquire sentimental value with memories. Lovely. I am often chained to him at night with it. The romantic side nicely catered to.

At the same time as the chain, came my cuffs. Gorgeous black leather, with purple suede. They looked 'serious' to me at the time and rather scary lol.

Also, can equate to purchasing something that is exciting/scary. I often think, why the heck did i get that? just another one of bdsm head fux to enjoy.

We have a toy, that has never been used. Thank god. Scares the crap outta me. It lurks in his bedside locker, it will come out one day, but hopefully, not for years and years!

have fun love

A crop was my first toy too, and I loved it. Crops can be used in a variety of ways and with practice can become almost an extention of your dom's body. For me, theres few things more mouth watering than seeing your dom standing over you sternly with a crop tucked smartly under his arm *drool*

thinking back ...the crop was my first toy about 13 years or more ago. The crop for me is more a sensual toy, its how you play and your pain threshhold that controls what type of toy you can handle.

I'd rather He use a crop than a paddle - and He's a fan of paddles.

LOL where else can you have conversations like this?

Wednesday night my partner mentioned something about what happened during "the cage incident."

I replied "Which cage incident?"

He just kind of blinked at me. Who else would have to ask that sort of question in which there would not only be A cage incident, but MANY cage incidents to qualify.

True to form, the first toy I got was a really severe crop with a fiberglass shaft. I have since gotten crops that are a bit "lighter" on the spectrum.

These days my favorite crop has a very long shaft and a wide rubber flapper from FlipWhip. A perfect length to get under the balls of a kneeling sub while I stand above him. <EG>
