carol, welcome. I thought you were very careful to say this was only your opinion.
Just for your information, there are also those who are basically the opposite in their work than they are in their BDSM relationship. It is not uncommon for someone with a high power job to want to turn the reins over to someone else in their personal life, or for someone who feels they cannot express themselves completely or take direction at work to thrive on being dominant in their relationships.
Also, while sex may be a very small piece of the pie to some it is almost the entire pie to others. Each relationship is unique, and one of the biggest mistakes I've made on the boards is with making what come across as generalizations. No matter how carefully you feel you word a post someone will typically misunderstand or may be offended, but I think that you will find that the majority of people here are supportive and there is a wealth of knowledge and experience among them.
