As someone with some experience in the area, I can promise you that the scenario you are describing isn't especially the case for everyone. I can, however, offer you an opinion on why you may be running into what you describe. For some, it can be based on the racial aspect. (Small minded, I know.) For others, it can be the size aspect. In both cases, whether legitimate or not, it helps to add to the humiliation factor that so many enjoy.
