I believe that I am intelligent enough to develop my own protocols, structure, techniques, practices and traditions. These fit ME. Not me fitting someone else's rules. In MY little world, *I* am king. No democracy or a council to decide what is right for me. In no way will I tell others what is right for them and their world. But I can share my perspective and experiences.

I do wonder though.....how does one "earn their leather"? And seriously, why would a "Dominant/Master" want to follow somebody else's rules?

Not saying I am right, but I AM right for ME.

All the best,
Old Bastard

"""I do wonder though.....how does one "earn their leather"?""" through a series of tasks that a master has set up for your training.

"""And seriously, why would a "Dominant/Master" want to follow somebody else's rules? """out of respect for lifestyle, learning experience..

tell me did you learn how to read by simpy by picking up a book and wow i know how to read? or did someone teach you?
do chidren learn from parents or are they let loose to learn on thier own? most children are indeed left to learn on thier own, and look how good these kids are being brought up these days.

there is not much democracy in the old guard.

Seriously, you do not represent yourself well, much less the "Old Guard" or any venerable organization.

You might wish to look into whether there is remedial training available.

i never said i am old guard, or that i represent old guard. unlike you,,,, i am trying to help, so why dont you take your gorean beliefs to the gorean thread????????

you straight world of leather and munches and how cute the costume looks is totally different than what goes on in the gay community of leather. both i have nothing to do with because the cliquish groups tend to focus more on bullshit protocols than they do the actual teachings, learnings, and actions. i have been invovled in both worlds. i do not speak through paper asshole.

the only thing i claim is not to be an expert, there is always room to grow and learn. and i have found that most who claim to be experts in this, have need to go back to school.

i have owned my alpha slave for 6 years now, he was a member of chicago hellfire for many years before i took ownership. i asked this slave about pansexual hellfire in chicago, it never happened. they let lesbians into hellfire near the end of his membership, and it caused all kinds of stress in the club. i mention this to show that pansexual is a newer concept, and the two worlds just until recently have been seperate.

Well just speaking for my self,I would say my knowledge of Old guard is very extensive,While I don't and never have claimed to be OG I have been friends with a few of the founding member of the lifestyle,IE my uncle...You have the right to express what ever you wish on the boards but WARNING be prepared to take the heat if you fail in your attempt to be some thing that you are not.just the opinion of this ol' master....

if you read what i wrote, you would see that i lay no claim to being old guard, other than having recieved some training from an old guard many years ago. i never claimed to be an expert on anything. i use old guard ways to my lifestyle needs, mostly for slave training, but alot of it is just not pracitcal in my household.

i am making no attempt to be something i am not, i am fully aware of my intentions, goals and needs, in life and lifestyle. i am not pretending, or trying to impress. i have no need to impress you or anyone else on here. i am trying to share what i know and have experience.

one thing i am trying to get across is that old guard goes way beyond scratch the surface. old guard is more of an undergroup cukture even to this culture. if you are caught up in the headlines and costumes of this lifestyle you may miss what is right there in front of you.

like a dungeon for example, is it possible to be a master without a well equiped dungeon? how could you think of it without all those tools around to help you be a dominant? this is humor.... i have no dungeon, i have some things around the house.

main point. its all relative, and there is no one answer to any of this, other than how it applies to the direct situation. all the newsletters, and munches, campaigns, contests, conferences, can only do so much.

With my age, I have had the opportunity to meet some who came up in actual old guard training houses.  Basically they do not want to be called old guard and do not care about anything sexual, just the protocals and learning how to properly use the instruments we have around for play.  I am still young enough that while I may have learned some thing from someone who is old guard or old guard trained, I am too young to truely be old guard.

maybe read a little better and you will find the answer to your question.

i am trying to help on the issue of the original post, not point fingers or to prove who is better than who. this is why old guard do not claim to be old guard as someone said earlier. as soon as you do, all this bullshit comes from the shadows from people who cannot speak out any other time. this person asked for some guidance or some understanding in old guard. but have really only seen a fe posts that would be of any help.

my question to you,,, do you believe in old guard philosophy or were you trained in old guard??? to me there is a big difference. am i being disrespectful or being disrespected?

i have read my chilton guide to my motor, but i still havent become the mechanic needed to builld the motor and follow the books instructions. if this doesnt make any sense to you, then nothing else i will say to you will.

Do direct me to where I can find what constitutes "Old Guard philosophy".  You and others have noted previously that what *is* "Old Guard" is very subjective, and not a single coherent series of protocols, philosophy, practices, etc.  I cannot help but to conclude that you are (and have been) exceptionally contradictory to both yourself, and documented factual history.

Please, no more rambling rants.  Try to stay on on point.  Where is this "Old Guard" philosophy that you speak of?

I would argue that the word "humor" doesn't mean what you think it does. Which isn't surprising, since your grasp of the English language seems to be  tenuous at best.

It's alright. No one is saying you haven't been trained in the uber-secret ways. No one is saying "Show us your papers." I believe you.

I just don't particularly care.
